Wichita State's best returning scorer, 3-point shooter, and assist man,
Gal Mekel (sophomore) has left the team, will return to Europe and seek a pro contract.
We had the rumor of Gal Mekel leaving 3 weeks ago. At least with the South Carolina job filled by Western Kentucky's Darrin Horn, it is assured that Wichita State's coach Gregg Marshall will return for his second season.
Gal Mekel was a below-average MVC guard who didn't seem to be a very smart player, which isn't good for a point guard. He also didn't seem to like being coached either. I actually think this will make WSU better.
Southern Illinois has announced one of their scholarship players is leaving.
Jordan Armstrong, a 6'6" sophomore from Muncie, Indiana will transfer. He never played much and Chris Lowery apparently doesn't think he ever will. Armstrong redshirted one year, so it seems likely he will transfer to a Division II school so he doesn't lose a full year of eligibility.
