Doesn't Les have a California connection (the state, not the school) because he was an assistant for the Sacramento WNBA franchise or something like that? Maybe that's why they remember him out there?
Yes, Jim Les lived in Sacramento for several years. He played for the Sacramento Kings, then had a successful career as a commodities broker there. He was an assistant with the Sacramento Monarchs of the Women's NBA. But Cal is in Berkeley, across the bay from San Francisco. Sacramento is about 80 miles northeast of Cal/Berkeley on I-80.

Stupid me for forgetting him playing for the Kings....I can't believe I forgot that considering when I was a kid and bought a pack of Fleer basketball cards, I swear to God I got a Jim Les card in every pack.

Wasn't sure about the California geography either, but Sacto doesn't seem that far away. Now, what if we won a game out there a couple years ago? Hmmmmm.....
A real fan celebrates the successes, but also acknowledges the failures of his team.

I can't believe JL was mentioned in this article for the Cal job. I like him but he is definitely not ready for a jump to a bigger program. I know about the three 20-win seasons but he routinely finishes 4th/5th/6th in the MVC, why would someone think he deserves a Pac-10 job? Doesn't make much sense to me at all. Lowry and Altman have proven they are ready for a bump but JL finishes a distant third to those two in the Valley in my book.

Great facts! I sure would like to see him playing his small lineup BS in the Pac- 10 or any bigger program! I for one don't think I can take another yr. of getting our butts kicked on the boards! I'm not in noways saying JL hasn't done good for BU but he needs to know that a change from his 4 guard and small 5 lineup will never get him to the next level and as mentioned no higher in in the MV than what he has finished!

I agree, although it would definitely be easier for him to recruit 6'8's and bigger to Cal than it ease to BU. He would end up getting more size. He just doesn't deserve that shot yet.

You maybe right about easier but I am no sure he would come out of his go small game! Hell, we had a 7' and 2 - 6' 9" sitting or not playing much after the MV started. They were playing more before the MV season started and could of been alot more help as the season went along!

I've gotta disagree with ya OB. It's exactly because of the "pre-season" schedule - where these guys were given a chance to show what the did or didn't have - that they sat on the bench during the MVC season. Not to mention that they were either young, inexperienced, hurt, overwhelmed by schoolwork and big-time college basketball, or behind in conditioning and practice (or all of the above). When they were given a chance during the MVC season only Austin responded with any effort or ability.
