I'm still not sure Coach Brooks was at the Cincy game, so maybe he was on a recruiting trip.

I say let's get some recruits to Carver next Wednesday night! Didn't we have some recruits at the Providence game last year? This should be a great atmosphere for them to witness, especially if we can win on Monday night!
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

You could say he's taken his game to another level. He's taking the ball to the basket off the bounce, drawing fouls, and making tough shots. He's shown himself to be much more of a scorer than a shooter. IMO, he's gone from a really good player to a great player. He wasn't blaming JC. We all know just how much he's meant to this team.

I hope Ryan Thorton is taking notes....his game is very much like what JC's was.....I am NOT trying to hype RT...but feel he can bring his game to a level that mirrors JC's

That would be great if we could get some key recruits to the game Wednesday night. And Monday night if we are recruting anyone from Oklahoma.

I think Bradleyfans is a ray of sunshine in that we don't have to deal with much of that type of garbage.

I'd rather have Bradley play someone bigger then Tulsa, but oh well.

BUT...it gets even better........ Petinella's story is pretty interesting...
Here's an interview........scroll down about half way to the part on his FT shooting...
"Question: I have to ask you about your free throw shooting. You??™re constantly working at your free throw shooting, but you??™ve struggled at the line. Has that always been the case with your free throw shooting?

Pettinella: ???I was a four-year varsity player in high school and finished about 70 percent shooting from the line. My first year at Penn I was a little over 60 percent and then I went down to a little over 40 percent. It even dropped lower than that last year. It??™s gone down hill since I went to Penn. I don??™t know if that??™s because I changed my form or anything. I??™m really working in practice to improve and I??™m working on my form with Coach Courtney. I think I??™m getting better. I??™m shooting 50 percent in ACC play (through Virginia??™s first five ACC games) so that??™s encouraging.???

The kid was a pretty highly sought after recruit out of high school and
his FT shooting in HIGH SCHOOL was 70% !!!
He started at Penn for two years, then transferred to Cincinnati to play for Bob Huggins.
When Huggins left, he left also, and transferred again to Virginia, so he has lost TWO YEARS to transfer, and he's been at 3 different D-I schools.
Personally I have no idea why the kid plays. He has started 20 of their games, and only averages 2.6 ppg, and now shoots 25.7% from the FT line (9-35).
There's no way if he was shooting the same way in HS, that he hit 70%, no freakin' way. I'm telling you, I wish there was some YouTube video of it, you really have to see it to really see how incredibly bad it is. I was warned by the UVA fan next to me, but I was still in shock after seeing it. I mean like hide the kids' eyes bad.
A real fan celebrates the successes, but also acknowledges the failures of his team.

I watched the game on tv last night...and you're completely right. That is by far the ugliest free throw form I have ever seen. I thought to myself, why doesn't he just granny it? He'd have a better chance of making it.

That is hilarious that they'd rather play someone bigger like Virginia. This is TULSA we're talking about. They've been garbage in the recent past. We would rather play UCLA in the finals but we'll take Tulsa haha. If they have a player dunk thirty times I'm gonna go out on a limb and say we lose. What great intelligence down there haha.
I don't smoke weed...I smoke dudes like you on the bball court

Of course Tulsa would rather play Virginia. After the way the Braves smoked the Cavaliers on their home court, the 'Canes don't want any part of us!

I stopped posting big man stats after it became painfully clear that DC had been permanently benched for the conference schedule. The big men (does not include TW) posted 48 minutes last night. I don't recall all of the game-by-game details, but I think there had only been one game (maybe two) where RA, SS, DC, and SS had collectively played 50+ minutes in a game. I love seeing a bigger line-up out there. It certainly didn't hamper our 3 point shooting as we launched 31 trey attempts ... while still out-rebounding Virginia and getting a respectable amount of points-in-the-paint.

                        GO BIG!!!

When I saw him shoot the 1st free throw I said in this order HS!(abr.) that looked like an RPG heading toward the basket, then I said Why doesn't he shoot them underhanded. It was by far the worst free throw attempt(s) I have ever seen edging out Chris Dudley for the honor.

That's a good thing for RT.

Maybe, I misunderstood, but he did say if we had this JC today, all year we would of won 7 more games. My point is JC has always been there, other good players were missing and had they been there JC wouldn't have had to be the shooter and make up for the points missed by DR and AW. You are right he's a great player, and with the return of all the starting players, he is now being given the opportunity to show his entire game. And man is he doing it!!
