I just heard an interesting rumor from a pretty reliable source. According to this rumor, Pitino is supposedly a candidate to become the next coach at Indiana. I like Rick Pitino and I love what he's done at Louisville, but I'd really hate him if he went there, especially if he ditched the team he has. I'd imagine UK fans would feel the same way, especially since they hate him now, but by moving to another UK rival, forget about it!!

I have heard the Pitino rumor, but I just don't know if I can believe that. I can't believe Indiana can pay him much more than Louisville. And he has a business on the side breeding and raising race horses in Kentucky, something I don't believe he wouls want to be away from.
I suspect this might be another case of a coach using another school (Indiana) to increase his value to his current school (Louisville).

I still think it will be Tony Bennett

Western Kentuck's Darrin Horn will interview for the South Carolina job--
Western Kentucky coach Darrin Horn, who led the Hilltoppers on a nice run in the NCAA tournament, will interview for the job at South Carolina.

This will be interesting, since Horn is a former player for Western Kentucky, and many thought he would not look to leave for a higher position. His contract has an interesting provision--

Horn is 111-48 in five seasons at his alma mater. He has three years remaining on his contract, which includes a buyout of $157,000 per year for each year bought out, as well as a provision that would require Horn's new school to play four games against the Hilltoppers in the future.

Yet another D-I head coaching change, and this one's kind of odd.
Tim O'Shea, the head coach of Ohio (who came and played BU in Peoria in the CBI) is leaving Ohio and taking the head coaching job at Bryant University (Division II) in Rhode Island.

Bryant is in the process of transitioning to Division I and will become fully Division I in 2012 when they will also become the 12th member of the NEC (Northeast Conference).
The Northeast Conference also includes Central Connecticut, Fairleigh Dickinson, Long Island University, Monmouth, Mount St. Mary's, Quinnipiac, Robert Morris, Sacred Heart, St. Francis of PA, St. Francis of NY, and Wagner.

Hey-- I have a trivia question......how many of those 12 schools in the NEC would you have known the city in which it resides?

We did something like this before and I failed miserably. But without googling or searching, let me fail again....

C Conn - no clue, but I bet it is in C Conn
FDU - don't know the city, but I think it's in NJ (Newark?)
LIU - ok, I'm not from Rio Linda... NYC
Monmouth - that's New Jersey too (New Brunswick?)
Mt St Scare-me - close to Baltimore, Maryland?
Quinnipiac - somewhere in Connecticut but no idea
                  Robert Morris - Pittsburg?
                  Sacred Heart - ummmm, NYC?
St Fancis of NY and Pa - don't know, NYC and Philly?
Wagner - that's Pennsylvania too? Pitt?

Here's a bit of good news for Valley fans........

Barry Hinson is one of the top names being tossed about (by Jeff Goodman on FoxSports)
for the newly created opening at Ohio University.
