  • How we ended up playing Virginia

We know Bradley will be playing at Virginia. Now was this matchup exclusively because of the ice show in town? I would think because we both have number one seeds we would have at least played on the road at a lower seeded team. My guess is that we would have had to play Virginia at Virginia irregardless of the ice show.

    What else does everyone think?

Virginia completed their own second half comeback tonight, coming back from an 8 point halftime deficit to win 80-76.

I heard (from a reliable source) that since the other two games involved Houston and Tulsa, and the CBI did NOT want an all-CUSA finals that might not have any wide appeal.....
.... to be sure of it, they had pretty much decided the winners of the games involving Tulsa and Houston would have to meet in the semi's (so if it was Tulsa & Houston they'd have to meet before the final game), therefore, BU was likely slated to play whoever won the game between Virginia and ODU.

Well, that's a good answer. So if that is the case, BU probably would not have received the home game even if the Civic Center was open. I'd be highly shocked if they would have made an ACC team go on the road for the semifinals. Thanks for the info!

That's dumb. I really don't want to play Virginia on the road. I'd like our chances much better against them in a 3 game series.

thanks....i'd rather being playing bradley than ohio.....not that you're an easier team, but that playing bradley doesn't make us feel all that bad about being in the cbi....especially with your success in the big tourney over the past couple of years

Can anyone figure out who will be home in the other game? I'm trying to search around, but nothing has been released. I'd have to imagine since Tulsa was a 2 seed in its region and Houston was a 3 seed, that it'll be at Tulsa?

It's at Tulsa... It was even announced in the arena immediately after TU's win. Houston didn't really want a home game anyway and Tulsa's fan support is far superior to Houston's. Another great loud crowd tonight in Tulsa. Now both TU and BU need to win Wednesday so I can get my dream championship matchup!

And it is only fitting IMO that Tulsa hosts this CUSA rematch.... in the regualr season and due to unbalanced scheduling, Tulsa and Houston only met once in Houston.
