You'll do carwheels for that? You have awefully low expectations of AT. Get off the tracks when the A Train's coming through. I know you'll say he hasn't played a minute and don't put high expectations on him but that is exactly what I'm doing. A guy with his skill set should average more than 6 and 6.

He needs to put on a lot of weight.
I watched him play at that TCC tourney here last year and Beas Hamga absolutely destroyed him. AT looked like he had some offensive potential and runs really well for his size, but he was 50 lbs. of muscle away from being able to compete in the post and succeed at the D-I level.
Hopefully he is continuing to bulk up as we speak...I'll temper my expectations for him until we see what kind of physical condition he is in coming into next season.

Well........that's unfair to compare, as Anthony Thompson was all of 17 years old at that time that they played each other, while Beas Hamga was said to be almost 20 but likely older than that given the propensity for falsification in transfer records from Cameroon...

          read about it here.......

I saw that game also, and some pretty unfair early fouls on Anthony also affected his play and he was tentative.

Others who saw him play, including this poster who I know personally and who is a lifelong basketball recruiting expert, said this........

The top rebounder in the conference only averaged 8.8 boards a game. I will be giddy with 6 per game from AT. That would mean our red shirt freshman was in the top 10 in rebounding in the Valley.
            Can we start winning soon?

Agreed...Hamga did look like he was 22 years old at the time...However, all of these posters that are predicting that AT will start right away next year and be a force in the Valley, etc....these posters are all predicting that he will be having that level of success against guys that are 2, 3, and 4 years older and more developed than AT...so I think the AT vs. Hamga comparison is pretty valid when talking about what we should expect from him as a freshman next year.

Don't get me wrong, I like AT's upside and I think he can become a really good Valley player if he continues to develop physically and gets a bit of a mean streak in him...I just think he is going to really struggle next year to be able to match up with D-I players as far as strength, intensity, and toughness are concerned. The redshirt year will buy him time to add some weight, but he still has a ways to go physically before I think it is realistic to expect him to be averaging 8-10 points and pulling down 6+ rebounds a night.
