The Diggers and the Billy's and the Dickie V's are part of the old guard that's trying desperately to cling to their 'card-carrying member' status. The landscape of college buckets has changed drastically against them with the globalization of the game and kids going early to the NBA. With the powerhouses having kids for only 1-2 years, and the mids having most kids for a full 4, it's only a matter of time before mids in the Final Four become a regular occurrence. Their time has passed, and they make it painfully obvious every time they open their mouth. That being said, I think it's all the more amazing that Bob Knight has a better grasp of the college basketball landscape than any of those guys.
