  • Stephen Curry

I am amazed that a talent like Stephen Curry could go all season under the radar. I watched a lot of basketball and hear about all of the great talents that play for the big programs and I maybe once heard his name. Yes, Tyler "deer in the headlights" Hanbourgh is the so called best player in the country, but if Curry was at a big program would he get the same attention?....you bet. Big media focuses on big programs only, we all know this; but I just wish that a Graves, Emmenecker, or any great player that is labled a mid major player would at least get some recognition for being an absolute bad a s s. Go braves.

That will never happen. The Drakes, Butlers Davidsons of the world only clog up what is most important and that is whatever Kansas, UNC or Duke or doing. Those programs bring eyes to the TV and money to the Networks.

I just saw and heard about this kid for the first time this week. He's amazing! Looking forward to the game against Wisconsin. Should be a good one.

In 3 tournament games (1 last year, 2 this year) he's gone for 30, 40, and 30 points. That's nothing short of amazing.

I saw him last year when Davidson almost beat Maryland. He came out of HS with a reputation of someone that could score but probably too short, not athletic enough and had a funny shot. I hope we can find the next Curry or Graves!

I think we need the next Josh Cox or Joe Alexander a little more than another guard. We've got the guard thing down about as good as anyone in our league.

I'd like a big guy also but I was just saying I do not mind finding a guy that the big schools past over so let's say another POB would be nice.

I disagree. I've heard Curry mentioned a number of times when talk of top players comes up. His problem is he plays in a weak conference and he gets no TV time (deservedly so). The difference between Curry and Graves/Emmeneker is that Curry will be a good pro player and those two will be lucky to find a roster spot in the NBA. And regarding Emmeneker, I think he gets MORE publicity than he's due just because he's a great story on a storybook team. He's good, but not "all that". I find his being named Valley MVP an embarrassment to the league. Who ever heard of an MVP with his weak stats.....makes the Valley look like a "no-talent" league, IMO.

Here's an example of a guy who is not a freak of nature (6'9 point guard, 7'2 TALENTED center, etc ...) who would really make Bradley from good to great:

I loved this first guy's game when we played against them last year, and he showed it again in the tourney. He's an example that you can be a dominant player inside without having to be 6'10 or anything.

Maybe these guys are "too good" for BU to recruit ... but if we're ever going to be consistently great, not just good or above average, BU must get a defensive stopper. Shooting guards are a dime a dozen in most cases, but a solid inside presence is the only way BU will ever stack up consistently.
                          Go Braves!

Varnado's a BEAST.......and he's young and gonna get better. Reminds me of Olajuan (sp?) with his athleticism and great D (as well as lack of offense at this stage). He's gonna be a great one before he's through.

The thing that is so impressive to me about Curry is that he gets his points in the flow of the offense and plays off his teammates. It's remarkably different from watching Beasley at KSU who gets his points but plays like he is in the NBA and forces the action. Curry is a great player and I duno about draft stock and all that but I hope he plays out all four of his college years. It's amazing watching him work with or without the ball.
