  • Duke Exposed - Way Overrated

Belmont exposed Duke as wayyy overrated
and now West Virginia sends then packing with a surprisingly easy double digit spanking of the Blue Devils.
How can the self proclaimed experts, the people who sit on national TV and brag about how they know more than the selection committee, see how badly overrated Duke is and was??

Duke should have been ranked about #20 and given a 5-6th seed.
Their early exit in the ACC tourney at the hands of Clemson began to expose Duke the same way Indiana's early exit by losing to Minnesota, exposed them.
But at least the committee people saw the charade that was the Hoosiers and gave them an 8 seed.

Over the past month, Duke went 6-5 with several pretty weak performances like the narrow escape over Belmont, and a one point win over NC State and the back-to-back losses to Wake and Miami.

Only the overwhelming bias and favoritism Duke enjoys among press, broadcast, and talking head people kept them even in the tourney this long.

Yep, my bracket's busted. Good thing that Xavier won today, I have them in the final four.

As a fan of both Bradley and Duke, I hope that the Bradley coaches saw the Duke loss today. Why??? Because both Bradley and Duke are guard heavy offenses that live by the three and die by the three with ZERO INSIDE GAME.

The experts were saying Friday morning that they were no upsets on Thursday because there is so much more known about all the teams now by the selection committee ... i.e., they do a better job ranking the teams now than in the past. Those guys are eating a bit of crow after Friday and Saturday. Duke is the poster child of being the over-ranked team. SEC is the poster child for over-ranked conferences.

Yes, yes, yes. All the more reason our final scholarship needs to be a big.

I don't like Duke at all really and maybe they should have been a 3 seed but I don't know how you can say they were that over-rated...they beatNorth Carolina,Boston Colege,Miami,Wisconsin,Temple,Marquette among others and go in to NCAA tourney 27-5. They won more against good teams than they lost

Most of Duke's wins against quality teams were at home. The only meaningful wins away from Cameron were Marquette (neutral) early in the year and at North Carolina toward the end of the conference season. Duke did beat Temple on Temple's home court, but Temple was 6-6 at the time and a lot of teams were beating the Owls.

IMO, Duke is not that good of a team away from home ... at least not as good as their press clippings say.

Is it me, or has Duke relatively struggled since the early NBA departures of Deng and Shaun?

(I'd be thrilled if Bradley's struggles were that good, though!)

NOT ONE of the MAJOR conferences, has more than half their bids still alive...
and we've barely finished just a part of the 2nd round!!

Where is the proof that the major conferences are so dominant and their 4th, 5th, and 6th teams would easily beat the mid-majors??
                    I see NO SUCH EVIDENCE!

Even those conferences like the Big East (8 bids) and SEC (6 bids) have all had at least HALF their NCAA Tourney entrants knocked out already!
I really don't think you see all that much of a big-conference dominance at all..

With teams like Butler, Western Ky., Siena, Xavier, Davidson, San Diego, etc... all still alive...I think the mid-majors have clearly strengthened the idea....
that smaller conferences DESERVE MORE BIDS!!!!!

We are on the same page BradleyBrave. I would love for the last scholarship to go to at least a tall power forward. I would also offer this years Xavier team as an example of the type of player we should go after. Xavier's Josh Duncan is a ton!

In today's college basketball, guard heavy teams are like a stock portfolio that isnt diversified. It will come back to hurt you sooner or later especially at tournament time.

Well you could make a case for many of the top seeds the same way. They were still 27-5 coming from a pretty good conference.Maybe not a 2 seed but 3 seed is ok....I just don't think they are way overrated.
