  • CBI attendance

Here are the attendance figures for the CBI games, so far--
    Miami, OH at Tulsa- 5365
    Utah at UTEP- 5313
    Cincinnati at Bradley- 5114
    Houston at Nevada- 4252
Richmond at Virginia- 4022 (surprisingly low for such a great regional game)
    Valparaiso at Washington- 3227
    Rider at Old Dominion- 2036
    Brown at Ohio U.- 1169

Even some of the NIT games had shockingly low attendance. The New Mexico game last night at Cal drew only 1906! Their usual attendance is over 8000 per game.
San Diego State at Florida drew barely over 5000, and Florida State drew about 2800. Most home teams drew half or less of their average attendance.

Personally, I wonder if the attendance figure last night at Carver was accurate?
It seemed they really had the whole operation messed up a bit.
I stood at one entrance until almost 5:15PM and they still weren't letting people in, so I went to a different entrance that was open but not even staffed......
I know that my entire family along with numerous other people who were coming in through the same entrance, walked right in and nobody even checked our tickets. They didn't look at them, didn't scan them, didn't even ask to see them, and didn't even verify if everyone walking in even had a ticket.
Maybe they still used the ticket sales and knew most of those people were in the house, but I have to figure they still missed some people.

A couple other members of my family also came in a bit later after the game started, and they also told me when they came in, that they entered the outer door, then came down the stairs into the arena, and that NOBODY was anywhere along the way to check to see if they were ticketed, so it must have been pretty prevalent.

I was wondering about that attendance number too...they were having all sorts of computer problems at the box office when we went to buy tickets about 45 min. before the game. Also, they weren't scanning tickets like they usually do when we went in the arena. To me, it seemed like there were more than 5100 there, not a lot more, but 5100 isn't even half of the capacity and it definitely felt like we filled a little more than half the arena. Either way...MAJOR PROPS TO AN AWESOME CROWD! And thanks to everyone out there for picking up the slack while most of the students were gone last night!

???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

As of 1 pm today, Tulsa had already sold 3000 tickets for Monday's game against Utah.

I know they sold at least 4 more after 1 pm...)

Why ticket sales are down :
1 corporate sponsors for the most part do not pickup their tickets.
2 Many of the retired fans have gone to Florida or Arizona for warmer weather and spring training.
3 The students were gone on spring break (if you expect them to come on Monday then we need some kind of promotion for them) one dollar tickets does not excite them for whatever reason.
