Despite many on the IU board insisting that Devin Ebanks (their top 2008 recruit, a 5-Star) is still considering his commitment there, and still might come if IU gets the right guy for their next coach....
A new insider report out of Ebanks' home town of New York says otherwise, and he looks like he isn't even considering Indiana any more among his choices.
"Devin Ebanks receives release from Indiana"
"Devin Ebanks has asked for a release from his Letter of Intent to Indiana and his high school coach says the release will be granted. "He's spoke to the people at Indiana and they're apparently going to be sending him his release," St. Thomas More coach Jere Quinn said Tuesday.
The 6-foot-9 Ebanks, the No. 13 overall prospect in the Class of 2008, was at Indiana this past weekend for the Big 10 Tournament. He was planning on meeting with IU athletic director Rick Greenspan to ask for a release following the buyout of former IU coach Kelvin Sampson for repeated recruiting violations. Ebanks had a clause in his LOI allowing him to escape if there was a coaching change.
"Right now he's talking about Memphis, Texas and Rutgers," Quinn said. "He may add a fourth.
Since both Memphis and Texas are competing in the NCAA Tournament, Ebanks likely couldn't visit either school until after the Big Dance."
Their 2nd best incoming recruit, Terrell Holloway had also previously decommitted.
Their two remaining 2008 recruits are (3-Star) Tom Pritchard and (2-Star) Matt Roth.
