  • Creighton's Josh Dotzler out for 5-6 months

Dotzler injured his right knee last season and rested for several weeks. He then reinjured it preparing for an NIT game. He was advised to rest it longer, but now doctors have done surgery to repair a damaged ligament. He will miss 5-6 months, and this article and message board discussion suggest he might not be able to return to full status even when he does come back.
This is especially tough for Creighton, since they may not have another point guard.

This is a really tough break for Dotzler and the Blue Jays. Next season was starting to look promising with Funk's return. But this will hurt. The other point guards they have really aren't true point guards, except Dominic Bishop, who supposedly was leaving. He might now stay.

Josh Dotzler had major ligament repair surgery on his knee yesterday and is expected to be out 6 months.
The timetable puts his return in midseason for 2006-2007.
We hope he has a fine recovery, and this is a really tough break for the Creighton freshman.

Well, mid-season means conference play. According to BBFan 77 (that some of us know from elsewhere in MessageBoard World), Dotzler will most likely return for the ISU game.

Here is a local story from Omaha on Josh Dotzler and his recent surgery. It is not in any online edition, so it's in the valleytalk.

There is talk now of Dotzler not getting back until January, '07, and the possibility he may just redshirt for 2006-2007.

Because Altman will have his team ready for the MVC, whomever is playing.

There is now a report in Omaha, that's being discussed on the Bluejay's board, that Josh Dotzler will not be ready to play come the start of the regular seaosn, and it is even in doubt that he would be ready by January when the conference season gets going, but they are still hopeful.
A full redshirt year may be the end result if he can't get back in time.

We sure wish him the best, and hope he recovers.
