CBI 1st round- Cincinnati at Bradley- 6:00 pm Wednesday
I am sure they were excited. They are 13-18- I doubt anyone on that team thought they had a prayer of playing any more games this season.
Teams with chances of playing in the postseason have continued to practice. Do you think Cincinnati was still practicing? I'd bet most of the players went home for Easter break, and had to be called back to school!
They were in school. This week is finals for winter quarter for them.
Sikes has spurts where he plays well. Overall this year he has had to step back for some other players who are better. Over his 2 years at UC, he has had maybe 4 or 5 games where he really shined.
HoopsFan1-- Welcome. We're pretty proud of our guard play too... It's the interior we tend to get worried about.
Subflea, not sure if Cincy fans (I'm assuming you are) are aware or not, but Bradley had heavily recruited Sikes too, which is why I made that comment. Think he probably would have played some more minutes at BU, but you guys landed him instead.
You guys don't want to see Deonta Vaughn in Carver though!
Can he dunk....thats the question. A couple years ago some Kansas fans told us we wanted no part of some of THEIR players and impressed us all with there videos and stories of how these guys could really dunk the ball.
We ALMOST decided to concede the game...but we played them anyway.
I knew you guys were in on Sikes. He really hasn't produced as much as we were hoping. He likes to play on the perimeter. Last year he shot well, but this year struggled some.
Our second best player is an undersized PF, John Williamson. We are weak at center. We have 6'10" SR Adam Hyrcaniuk who is a good role player, but struggles on the offensive side. Behind him is 6'11" FR Anthony "Biggie" McClain, who is full of potential, but like most FR big men, he is very raw. He is also suffering from a foot injury that has slowed him down all year.
Just from looking at your teams stats, it looks like this is one of the few games we have had this year where we may have the advantage in the paint. What scares me is we have trouble defending on the perimeter some and a lot of teams seem to have their best nights shooting the 3 against us.

Now about Pitt.......
We don't have a lot of guys that dunk. Williamson is very explosive, but that about sums it up. Vaughn is just a great player. He has been the most consistent player on the floor for us. Even with teams focusing on him, knowing we don't have many other scoring options, he has still averaged more than 17 and was first team all Big East. He is one of those guys that is just fun to watch. He works very hard without the ball to get open and has a good shot. He is very clutch and is the guy you want with the ball at the end of a game.
Hey - I wanna know what BParker and KK are doing to hype this game.
There is a TON of history with Cincinnati. Is the Big O being invited to come in for the game? Is the pre-game video highlights gonna showcase a lot of pics/video from the 50's and 60's of games with Cincinnati? Is Mike Williams coming back? Obviously Dick Versace will be around. I expect Paul Unruh, Eddy King and many-many more will be in attendance.
Help us out here DC... get on the horn with BParker and also email Dave Snell.
And hey... are we gonna do a Red Out?
The more I think about this game - the more excited I get!
The Big O is at all our home games and was at the Big East tournament where he was honored for a game in which he scored 56 at Madison Square Garden. The opponent was Seton Hall and I believe their whole team only scored 54. It was a scoring record for any player, college or pro, at the Garden. I don't know if he will be at this game.
We have long stretches where we only play one big at the center position. Our starter there is Matt Salley, a 6'7 post player. Decent defender on the ball, but if he gets backed down by a bigger player there isn't much he can do. He plays hard, but is limited especially at center in my opinion. Other than him we are now getting a lot of minutes from a JUCO junior named Rashad Austin. He's no taller than Salley, but quite a bit stronger, and has a bigger body. I think he's also a little more athletic, and every once in a while we see both on the floor at the same time. Problem is foul trouble, so many of our minutes at the 4 position are played by Theron Wilson, who's a (generous) 6'5 small forward. Theron's a very good athlete and excellent player, so he does his best, but is very undersized in the paint.
Guard-wise, Bradley is very strong, though we've had some injury problems. Daniel Ruffin is a 5'10 senior point guard, who early in the season was making top 5 lists nationally, but missed 9 games (I think it was 9) in the middle of the season with a sports hernia. He's extremely quick, a very good shooter, and an excellent ball-handler. Jeremy Crouch is a 6'5 senior shooting guard. He's deadly from the 3 and has set all of our school records in that category (last year tied for national lead at 50% 3 pt pct). Andrew Warren is usually the other starter but he broke his hand several weeks ago and missed the end of our season. This game might be his first back as he's returned to full practice now. Andrew's a 6'6 sophomore shooting guard who's very long and a matchup problem when he drives or shoots. Something about his jumper seems to mean he gets fouled a lot when taking 3pt shots. The other guard who plays a lot of minutes is Sam Maniscalco, a 6' freshman point guard. He's a good young player who has some good offensive skills, has developed his D, and plays very smart for the most part.

The teams should bring Oscar and Hersey to the Wednesday game for a half-time ceremony.
