      Tiger and steroids? No way...

Raw strength does not help as much as one would think in hitting a golf ball a long way. Some of my strongest friends can't hit a ball over 200 yards. It is an insane combo of swing arc, tempo and balance.

Can I hit the ball further than Tiger? Sure can. As a matter of fact, there are exactly 71 players on tour that have driving distance averages greater than Tiger's.

The difference is that he can put a mid/short iron on a dollar bill if you placed it on the green and is almost automatic from inside 15 feet with his putter.

Driving distance in general has increased in the past years because of technology. Take a Titleist ProV1 and a Titleist Professional 100 from the mid/late 90's and hit them with the same club. The ProV1 will go about 10-15 yards further. I've experimented with it first hand on a launch monitor. Technology has made distance much easier to attain and increase.

I am probably wrong, but I remember reading somnewhere that when Tiger won his first Masters, he was among the leaders in driving distance. Now the field has caught and passed him.

There is very little that surprises me in sports at any level any more, but Tiger on steroids would be a complete surprise to me.

          Golf :

          Drive for show

          Putt for $$$$$$$$$$

Tiger is the best putter on tour. His distance is excellent but you can have all the distance you want, if your not accurate or you cant hit a second shot to the green the distance does nothing.

It doesnt hurt to have everyone else simply knowing their not as good and generally satisfied to cash checks. No one on that tour has any stones, other the Tiger.

Heck yea... Once Tiger jumps out to a lead, it is very interesting to see the body language of the other golfers. They know it's over.
