Would a gate receipt guarantee of $60,000, and the CBI gets 40% does that really mean BU is guaranting paying the CBI $24,000? That is really easy to get, but that does not include paying the PCC.

I don't know how it breaks down. Maybe the 40% the CBI gets is after all the expenses are paid. There are also high travel and accomodation costs involved.

8000 sold tickets at 20.00 each would bring in 160,000 so I do not think you have to worry about making money after paying for rent and all other expenses plus the concessions bring more revenue.

Upper bowl seats normally have a face value of $8 (endzone) or $10 (Halfcourt) and last year's 8000 for NIT included half price $8 tickets... ($4)

There is also income from TV and radio, as well as sponsorship, game programs, and promotions, and BU likely gets a cut of the concessions, too.

So when do we find out about the CBI invitations, etc??

If they give us the student section, I'm sure the regulars will show.

If we do get a home game, I hope it doesn't turn into the screwjob we have to deal with over XMas break. I plan on traveling down from Chicago for this one but I'm certainly not going to sit in the upper bowl.

This is not correct. Though extended an invitation, BU did not play in the 1939 NCAA, and would not play in the NCAA until 1950.

As an aside, BU did defeat the 1939 NCAA champs Oregon earlier in the year, and the Harold Olsen coach of the runners-up Ohio State Buckeyes had coached Bradley for one year.

The two reasons cited were loyalty to the NIT, which had started the previous year, and the fact the players did not feel they could defeat Oregon a second time.

We are, however, the only school to participate in all the college basketball postseason events held for which we were eligible.

After the point shaving scandals in '50-51, there was a backlash against NYC-based events. In 1951, Bradley hosted its own National Championship Basketball Tournament (NCBT) and also participated in a tournament in Hawai'i.

And then there were the Commissioner's Classic bid in the 70's and the 2008 CBI.

                          Which leaves me wondering....

                          A) Why not share the knowledge/info way back in mid March?

                          B) Why search and resurrect?

But thanks for sharing anyway Squirrel.

                          Thumbs up pal.

I was looking for last year's thread about the MVC being a one-bid league and stumbled on this one in my search, and thought I would inform the populace.

I obviously didn't see it in March, because this board is not a top priority for me.

Thanks Braves4life. . .it's a fascinating history (Bradley Basketball), one that has only had a scarce amount of light shown upon it.

Yet I'm not a "true fan" according to some on this board.

not directing this personally at you Squirrel by any means.

but to paraphrase Bruce Weber...the other board s**ks!
