  • Selection Sunday to become Selection Monday???

Oh great! Some reporter on CNN just said there is some talk about possibly moving the tournament selections to Monday if they can't decide how to handle the SEC tournament delay. Just pure speculation and rumor most likely, but this could possibly become an issue if things don't get resolved quickly.

I for one say play two games tomorrow. Our state high school teams play the semi-finals and finals on the same day, or at least they used to. I think it could be done here. If it damages someone's seeding, so be it. Garbage happens all the time, and you move on. Just an act of God.

That's true but this is a major college sporting event. The players may be able to play 2 games in one day but it's a scheduling nightmare. TV, Sponsors, other events, it's all about the money. Money will talk in this issue. Course, Atlanta city council will have to decide if that area is even safe for pedestrian traffic. Most of that area is blocked off due to broken windows in the hi-rises. They may have to delay March Madness 1 whole week, who knows.

The selection committee will ALREADY be in their extremeties given the Minny/Illinois contingency plans they have to come up with.

A SECT delay, that's ANOTHER contingency plan. So that's 4 different contingency plans they need.

      This is a serious problem.

Well, two games in a day is indeed what was decided. Not the best decision for those teams involved, but what can you do? I don't think moving March Madness up a week would have been an option for anyone.

Also, for those interested, Georgia and Kentucky are tied in OT at 52. If Georgia wins, they keep their dream of an improbable run to the SEC championship, and obviously need to find a way to win tonight. If Kentucky wins, tonight's game is not as significant.

Well GA winning it was. Tough for them that they had to go into OT in game long battle. They are going to be one tired team tonight. On a side note, the SEC tourney could of been delayed again as another monster tornado ripped thru the outskirt suburbs but went about 35 miles N of downtown ATL. Major damage and at least 5 fatalities.

I just saw that on the National Weather Service website. A tornado warning remains in effect for the northeastern part of the Atlanta metro area. The NWS is calling this an extremely dangerous and life threatening situation! While this storm complex has appeared to pass north of Atlanta proper, there is a strong potential for more tornadic storms to form to the southwest and pass over Atlanta later today.

This kind of weather fascinates me, but I don't like seeing violent tornadoes pass through populated areas like this. My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected.
