Here is another interesting Arch Madness fact-
Prior to 1997, the tournament only involved the top 8 seeded teams in the league. But since 1997, all 10 teams have been involved, with the lowest 4 seeds meeting on the first day to play for the bottom 2 seeds.
Play-in winners have gone 1-28 after the first round. Want to guess who was the only play-in team to win a game in the next round?
The only team to come out of the play-in round and win their next game was Jim Molinari's 1998 Bradley team. Seeded 7th, Bradley beat 10th seed Drake 69-62 in the play-in round. Then they pulled a big upset beating #2 seed Creighton 76-68 in the quarterfinal round. They then lost 58-67 to Missouri State in the semifinal round. I can recall hanging around a lot of unhappy Creighton fans at the Adams Mark Hotel that night trying to buy up their tickets to the semifinal game. Everyone I talked to that night wanted 4th year coach Dana Altman fired!
