LOL!

Thought I would chime in here.
I think this tournament is extremely interesting for the following reasons.
1) It is a revenue share for the home team, but with a minimum. So a school like BU can do pretty well, while a school like UNI would not
2) It is seeded 1-4
3) The home teams have the ability to make a decent gate..........BUT, its much better for those schools not having to rent a facility like Bradley does. (Not claiming to know our rent)
4) There doesn't seem to me to be any real reason to be willing to go on the road for this tournament. Pay isn't good, and most likely you are going to a place with a pretty good fan base, where you are most likely to lose.
5) The tournament is seeded again at the beginning of the semifinal round 1-4
6) I like the 2 out of 3 finale
So to summarize, who is going to go on the road for little money missing spring break, classes etc?
We will see.

It always seems to take several days to get ticket secured by season ticket holders. After that is completed it usually seems like the general public has about a day and a half to buy.
The prices of the tickets are usually significantly higher than the regular season as well.
Now that scenerio is with the NIT, I am not sure what the CBI schedule is like but my guess is it is similar.Get Well Massive Mike! "Once a Brave always a Brave!"

If they want a legitimate tournament then I would hope that they went w/ the best teams available. If theat would not include BU then so be it but I, personally, do not see 16 teams on that list that are better then BU-I am not sure if I see 8 teams better then BU. Just my thoughts.

Here is some good news for schools like Bradley that would like a chance to play in the CBI tournament-- there are now some teams making it public that they have no interest in playing in the CBI--
Note that it appears from that article, that the Gazelle Group, the corporation behind the CBI, is requiring teams that wish to host games in the CBI to guarantee $60,000 in gate receipts. There are not many teams that could afford to do that. It would appear to take a home crowd of 6,000-7,000+ to generate that kind of gate revenues. Maybe this is good for BU, also.
Here is another article that mentions the $60,000 guarantee to host a game. It also says the CBI has had talks with Auburn, which lost in the first round of the SEC tournament for their 11th loss in their last 13 games to finish 14-16. And they still think they have a chance at the CBI?
There may be no rest for the weary. Officials from the College Basketball Invitational and Auburn have recently kicked around playing in the tournament, though Auburn's stock fell again Thursday when the Tigers lost to Vanderbilt 93-82 in the SEC...
And, here would seem to be a good opponent for Bradley in the first round of the CBI--

Also- here is a site we've shown before, NITology--
They currently have Illinois State as a #2 seed in the NIT, and show Bradley as a NIT bubble team, and likely a CBI team--

According to what is there now I have found some matchups for some to chew on based upon 2 criteria...the 1st set is based primarily on gathering the most money via home teams if thats the way they want to do it, and the 2nd is a split between giving teams who draw home games along w/ a 1-16 seeding on basis of record, RPI, and SOS formula....so here they are:
FIRST CRITERIA:
(4) Sam Houston St. @ (1) Alabama
(3) Georgia Tech @ (2) UTEP [SOUTH]
(4) Brown @ (1) Seton Hall
(3) Providence @ (2) Virginia [EAST]
(4) Miami Ohio @ (1) Bradley
(3) Wright State @ (2) Akron [MIDWEST]
(4) Cal State Fullerton @ (1) Boise State
(3) Valparaiso @ (2) Missouri [WEST]
-----OR-------
SECOND CRITERIA:
(4) Miami Ohio @ (1) UTEP
(3) Wright State @ (2) Seton Hall [SOUTH]
(4) Georgia Tech @ (1) Alabama
(3) Sam Houston State @ (2) Bradley [EAST]
(4) Providence @ (1) Akron
(3) Valparaiso @ (2) Virginia [MIDWEST]
(4) Brown @ (1) Boise State
(3) Cal-State Fullerton @ (2) Missouri [WEST]

Then again, hearing that teams like Auburn are under consideration is a bit troublesome. It could be an interesting mix of teams in this tournament!
