  • Some recruiting news 5/4/06

HEY---someone tell Jim Les about this first one!!
--Robert Eppinger is back on the board. He has "Decommitted" from Fresno State. Possibly, he has gotten a few more calls, and some more offers, and he is reneging.
He had committed to Fresno State in February, but speculation that he would change his mind grew each day that passed in the signing period, when he didn't send in his LOI.
Eppinger's ex-coach at Minneapolis Henry, where he transferred after leaving Illinois, said Robert would likely begin looking for another school closer to "home" (the midwest.)

--Valparaiso has signed a nice kid who was under the radar (and possibly even under the radar screen).
A 6-8 shooting guard who averaged 27ppg. Could be a nice player.

--Another 7 footer is going to the NBA draft. Clarence Holloway who is from Chicago, spent a year at IMG Academy in Florida (prep school) has still not signed with any college, has now placed his name in this year's draft. He might not be drafted unless he has some fine predraft workouts, but he is getting offers from UConn and other top colleges.

--here is a sad story of one top recruit who isn't likely to be playing any basketball soon.

--and as was noted elsewhere, Carlton Fay had narrowed his options down to just two, Bradley & SIU, before deciding on SIU. But this interview shows how close BU was to getting Fay, and that NIU & ISU were out of the running.
