Wow, amazing how strong the feelings were to can JL 1 month before they were given an NCAA bid, and when the program was on the verge of one of the most successful seasons in over 50 years.
That was Jim Les' 4th year, and the team had a winning record even after the loss everyone was reacting to (13-9), and they finished with 22 wins and a Sweet 16 run.
If those fans had any consistency, will they be calling for a another coaching change in about 4 months if we aren't on course for 20+ wins and an NCAA bid?

Actually that's not entirely true. Suggesting bu fan 9 is the only BU fan who is not happy with the current situation and doesn't think it will turn around is overlooking hundreds if not thousands of former fans who have become disenchanted and have dropped their season tickets, or just don't care any more.
The BU people know they have lost a ton of fans, and are trying hard and spending a lot of money to get them back. But that will take a lot more winning than we've seen. Hopefully it isn't too late.

Geno is safe - there's no drumbeat

That's because there's no fans left to beat the drum.

Gotta say I was very high on Geno when he first came here...was a bit disappointed after Year 1, but felt I was too unrealistic to think he could turn improve upon the previous season.
Then Year 2 came and I think there were some vast improvements and felt we overachieved slightly.
Last year was a total downer and made me rethink whether Geno was the right guy.
This will be the year that most everyone expected him to take the Braves to the next level - Top 3 or better. While I am not that optimistic, I still think that it's Top 6 or bust this year...barring a couple key injuries.
But I think even if we finish 8th or so, Geno will have another year to prove himself given that he got some good-looking recruits that hopefully gel together.

I agree we were a better the 2nd year, but as I have said before, I do not believe the improvement was nearly as much as some, especially our media claimed it was. Recall that the non-conference Strength of Schedule was 339th out of 342 Division I schools. Plus, other than Creighton and Wichita State, the league was weaker that year, too. With that schedule, we should have finished with a much better record than we did.

The 3rd year is when we should have looked much better- with our top scorers and rebounders being seniors, supposedly better depth and influx of talent and maturity of the previous recruiting classes, another non-conference SOS over 300, and the MVC much weaker with the elimination of the top team (Creighton) and replaced by an awful, 10th place team (Loyola). 2 of Bradley's conference wins, and the only road MVC win Bradley had were against Loyola. We might have been battling to stay out of last place if not for the gift of Loyola being on our schedule 2 times.

So now in year 4, we have a bunch of cupcakes on our home schedule, but there are some better games on the road and neutral court portion. We need to win a bunch of those games and do better in the MVC to keep the fans from bailing out even more.

IMO this is a pivotal year for Geno. He will have had four years and if this year he isn't in the upper half of the MVC and adds at least one other top recruit, he will be on the hot seat and will begin to receive public criticism
calling for a coaching change. If we end up on Thursday again in the tournament, It is likely that Geno will (and should be) be gone.
On the other hand, if our new guys come thru and someone emerges unexpectedly as the next BU superstar, Genos position would most certainly solidify.

Beat Memphis, beat K-State and beat Wichita - that'll start bringing the fans back...

Whether right or wrong, Ford will get his fifth year. Bradley has some financial issues and would not want to incur the extra expense.

Another good recruiting year would not hurt anything. A top four or five finish in the MVC would be very beneficial to his career. However, this seems to be a year in which Bradley could end up anywhere from 4th through 8th.

Naturally, we all hope for the top four or better finish.

yes, but we are deep into the summer/fall recruiting period, we have an open scholarship, we have offered it to many and been rebuffed, missing on numerous top targets, and if we take a 2nd or 3rd tier target or hold it 'til spring would we get anyone that would help us?
I know that's just the way recruiting goes - but with a dozen players coming back next year - most recruits see the chance of immediate playing time being very low.

I'm certain you could find a JUCO in the spring that would be an immediate impact guy. Holding one till spring ain't a bad idea. Didn't you guys just land a stud in the spring this year?

Though it's possible, the majority of spring recruits are players who are recruited for potential, or are the leftovers.
