  • Boo article

Very good article on Boo and the trials he's faced in his personal life at ISU. I liked watching him and Ruff go at the last two years.

At 5-foot-8, point guard Boo Richardson has fought through pain and has Illinois State on the cusp of an NCAA berth.

I hate reading about how so many of these kids have had to endure so much tragedy and so many hardships in such a short life.
I am 3 times this kid's age (and I know lefty is almost as old!!) and haven't seen nor had to endure anything like this.
I really turns my stomach to hear stories like this, since every kid should have the God-given gift of a good childhood and upbringing, void of this kind of senseless tragedy.
Maybe I am living in a dream world to think kids shouldn't go through this, and maybe kids like Boo can actually turn these tragedies into something good, but I'll bet most kids who have these kinds of senseless tragedies in their childhoods end up unfairly suffering the rest of their lives.
God bless you, Boo, and others who, like you and your family, had to endure such unfairness......

By the way.......a really nice article, something I wish we'd see more of.

Kind of reminds me of the escalated Los Angeles violence the last few weeks. Its really out of control this year in SoCal. The most notable incident that most of you probably heard about was the All state HS football player that was mistaken for a gang member outside his house. He didn't answer back after they asked him where he was from, AKA what gang you a member of, so they shot him to death in bright day light. His dad was inside the house and his mom was in Iraq fighting in the war. Just senseless violence that these kids have to worry about everyday.
