Manual looked good until the championship game, but then they were handled easily by Chicago North Lawndale. Manual's shooting was horrible, and North Lawndale's soph big man Paul Bunch was dominant.
Manual is good, but they should have tried to step up to Class 3A again this season.
They might have not made it to state, but losing in Class 2A is a bummer as well.
Manual has a ton of young talent as does Lawndale. How good would Manual have been had Donivine Stewart ended up there.
Several of the past Pleasant Valley kids have ended up at Manual (Marlon Brooks, etc.)

Why should they have tried to step up to 3A. Should North Lawndale have tried to step up to 3A too? Losing in the Class 2A State Championship (to a team that would compete well in 3A and 4A, IMO) is much less of a bummer than losing in the 3A Sectionals. This was a big deal for the fans, faculty, and administration of Manual. With all the negatives that people read in the media about the school, it was very good to see some positives come out for Manual. I heard a lot of positive comments from various sources about the Rams fans being some of the best fans of the weekend. All in all.... despite not coming home with the big prize, it was a great weekend for Manual and the city of Peoria.
North Lawndale is school of about 400 kids all male...That is like a normal school having 800
kids i would not be ashamed of loosing the 2a game at all to that school!!
