Steve Holdren, who is originally from Champaign, is transferring from South Dakota State to Illinois and will walk-on and play for Bruce Weber and the Illini. He played in just 5 games last season for SDSU as a sophomore, including a game November 18, at Illinois, when he scored 28 points. He missed the rest of the season with an injury. After sitting out a year, he would be eligible for 2 more years of play.
Bruce Weber is keeping in line with his trend of getting transfers that had impressive games against the Illini.
Marcus Arnold also had his best game for Illinois State when they played at Illinois, and then transferred to Illinois immediately after that season.
