  • It's Official, Keno Davis IS the MVC Coach of the Year

The only thing in doubt was whether it would be unanimous

But......someone didn't vote for Keno so he only got 38 out of 40 votes.
since Tim Jankovich ended up 2nd, I'd have to think a couple writers didn't vote for Keno, and if that's true, it is really bush, sorry.

Jim Les finished 6th, most certainly hurt by the negative stuff that got blown so way out of proportion.

I agree. He presents a strong case....but not this year.

Congrats to Keno Davis and the Drake Bulldogs for MVC Coach of the Year honors, and a regualr season MVC Championship respectively. Now for the good of the Valley, Drake must go down this weekend.

Is it possible that a few Drake voters were "too humble" to vote for their guy?

Congratulations to Keno and the rest of the Drake coaching staff. Here's hoping they lose in the semifinals to a certain team outfitted in red!
People need to recognize there is a huge difference between playing hard, and playing well...

So like in the political world, the outcome was already essentially known by everybody, so might as well use your pointless vote to stir the pot or pump up your guy that did fairly well.

Congrats to Keno and his staff, they certainly deserve it. I'd love to hear the reasoning from the writers who didn't vote for him.

Valley has a rule that coaches can't vote for themselves and beatwriters can't vote for the Coach of the team they cover.

Therefore Jank's 2 votes came from Keno Davis himself and Drake's beat writer. You can still call it bush if you want to though.
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

Well that's totally understandable then. DC, are you making the trip down to STL tomorrow?

We need a ruling on this, since there are four votes that come from each team/city, two media, coach, and AD.
So why did Keno get 2 of the votes from the Drake staff and media, but the other two cannot vote for their own guy?
Makes no sense, even the press release from the Valley says,
"Davis received 38 of a possible 40 first-place tallies and 116 total points to outdistance Illinois State's Tim Jankovich in the voting. Creighton's Dana Altman was third in the balloting, conducted by league coaches, media and sports information directors."
If 40 is not possible, then why do they say this?
