  • Other Conference Tourney talk

    Ohio Valley Tourney...

-In a triple OT thriller, TN Martin tops Samford.
-Murray St by 3 points over TN Tech

    Horizon Tourney...

-Loyola Chicago knocks out our Bracketbuster opponent WI-Milwaukee

Man, the Patriot League Tourney is the best March Madness yet...

-Bucknell takes down Navy in triple OT with an amazing half court buzzer beater.
-Colgate beats Lafayette by 2 points.
-American beats Holy Cross by 2 points.
-Army beats Lehigh by 3 points in OT.

Thats all for this evening, all the Sunbelt Tourney games were decided by 5 or more points. I can't wait to see that Patriot League championship game. Should be available on ESPN360 or one of the online feeds as last year had almost every championship game online.

It's on ESPN2 next Friday at 3:45PM. It's strange, the semis aren't until Sunday and then the final is another five days from then. With our lack of depth, we could use something like that in the Valley tourney this year...

Well todays games were rather boring other than the ISU/WSU game going down to the wire. Hopefully BU can roll to a 20 point shallacking by halftime and rest the regulars.

-First championship "autobid" will come from the Big South on Saturday. Game starts at 10:30am central on ESPN2. UNC-Asheville and that almost 8 footer takes on Winthrop. Should be an interesting game.

I'm pulling for UNC-Asheville to make the tourney - it would be really interesting to see a higher seeded team deal with 7'8'' Kenny George. He's really a gamechanger when he's able to play, which unfortunately hasn't been for too many minutes because of knee issues. In the NCAA tourney, I could see their coach going all out and playing him 30 minutes to go for the upset. Man, I love March Madness.

Unbelievable! That Bucknell game makes the Deon Jackson shot seem like kidsplay! And in triple overtime on top of that!

Well, it shows experience counts, and Bucknell might just pull off another Patriot League tourney championship again!

And Winthrop takes the Big South Championship for the first autobid of the 2008 big dance. That was the first time i've watched an extended length of Kenny George play. If UNC-Asheville had even some remote talent on the perimeter, that team would easily go deep into the big dance. I like how George can easily turn and shoot it over everyone or slam it down while barily jumping 5 inches LOL. Winthrops perimeter offense really killed Asheville's momentum in the 2nd half.

Other bids to be issued tonight....

No. 1 Austin Peay vs. No. 6 Tennessee State (ESPN2, 5 p.m. eastern)

                    -Atlantic Sun Tourney

                    No. 2 Jacksonville vs. No. 1 Belmont (ESPN2, 7 p.m. eastern)

-Belmont took the Atlantic Sun Championship.... I didn't realize it but the announcers said that Belmont was 4th in the nation for 3 pointers this season? Either # or Average I can't remember.

Elon U. is HOT and is playing for the coaches job and Nestor is a good coach (though Elon is not too good). If Elon upsets Davidson (which I doubt) they may pull off a first round NCAA upset).

St. Mary's may be my Cinderella pick. I think they beat Gonzago and win at least 2 games in NCAA Tourney.

I stand corrected men. St. Marys proceeded to blow a 15 point lead in the final 15 minutes after my post lol. It's now going into OT tied at 52 against San Diego State. I still think St. Marys will pull it off though.
