I don't have any problem with the teams as selected. there are always tossups with everyone feeling their guy should be there. Our guys shouldn't need any more motivation than to know the ONLY way to NCAA dance is winning the Valley tourney

Are you comparing Stinnett to Wilson or Maniscalco?
Either way, you are wayyy off....
In conference play, Stinnett played 25 min per game, Wilson 31, and Maniscalco 33, but Sam M's minutes played were way less in non-con games because of Ruff's presence.

If scoring is the only thing that matters, they should say so and name the award the MVC-Scorer of the Year.
But as I noted, there were so many other variables such as Maniscalco's assists, very few TO's, ball handling, and team leadership, and also Theron's HIGH shoting pct, rebounds, and defense.

I don't disagree PAS is a viable candidate for the awards, I just think it shows those who vote pretty much only look at numbers, especially scoring.
Have you not read yourself the many times even your own board posters and press note how frustrating PAS is when he plays out of control and hurts the team?
Maniscalco never hurt the team and neither did Theron Wilson.
Find me a game BU lost in which Sam or Theron had as many fouls as points, and no assists or maybe only one but 3-4 turnovers?
PAS has done this multiple times!

To be fair, Tornado, that's just not true. I distinctly remember Theron's 9 turnovers in a game this year that cost us a sweep of Drake, including two on in-bounds plays when the game should have been in hand. That loss might make the difference with a postseason invite of some kind if we can't win a couple this weekend. On that note, I hope we can win, but this team just hasn't put all the pieces together. One night, it's bad shooting, another, bad D.....if they can find a way to play 3 games at their best, they should win it.

There are probably 5 teams in the tournament that could make that claim. Playing 3 games at our best would definitely win it but the winner of this tournament will probably be the one that pulls one out while not at their best.

I asked this on another thread but i'll ask it here also. What is the number of games a guy has to miss to be left off a "team" or be not considered for an award? Warren has missed a number of game and still was "first team" all improved. Why was he considered for a first team, mso to speak, yet DR is not.

NOT saying Warren didn't deserve it, he did but I'm just asking what the criteria is. Is it 1 game missed, 2 games....3...4.....?

Can any tell me DR is NOT one of the 5 best players in this league?

I don't think anyone could try to tell you with a straight face that Daniel isn't one of the 5 best players in the league. I can tell you that anyone who doesn't play in half his conference games doesn't deserve to be on the first team. There's no way you can make a case for that. I love Daniel and he's a great player but he had to play in at least 4 or 5 more conference games to get first team consideration. Half the coaches didn't even ever see him play!

Dave Reynolds said that Honorable Mention is only given to players that receive some first team votes. Some voter(s) though Ruff was among the 5 best, but not all voters saw Ruff play this year...
