Here is some info from a source who spoke with Lance Stemler this weekend over in Bloomington, Indiana.
First...a scout/insider article about Lance's visit.
"Next week, he???‚¬?„?s going to make his decision between those four schools,???‚¬?? said Southwestern Illinois College Coach Jay Harrington." (Indiana, Marquette, St. Louis, Nebraska)
Lance also had Minnesota calling and wanting him to visit, but Lance has cancelled all plan for more visits, and will decide within the next day or so.
Then the Indiana source said Lance wants to end all the recruiting process within a day or two since he has to focus on upcoming final exams. Lance is a full qualifier, in addition to being on target to graduate from Southwestern Illinois College with great grades.
But, Indiana is pretty well set at shooting guard, and was even hosting another fine prospect this same weekend as Lance was there, 6'3" SG Vaughn Duggins. This has Lance thinking he may only be a role player at Indiana, and St. Louis just signed a kid who may also make it harder for Lance to get the playing time he wants there, although Lance has a pretty strong reason to stay close to home (girlfriend) and St. Louis is only a few miles a way. Right now the strongest of the 4 strong scholarship offers (those listed in parentheses above) is Marquette, who will need immediate replacement for Steve Novak, and who always have a fine tradition of using spot up shooters in their offense. Lance hasn't been to nor spoken much of Nebraska for a long time, so it appears the decision will be between Marquette, SLU, & IU with Tom Crean at Marquette winning the derby for Lance's services, or possibly (less likely) Lance staying near home to play at St. Louis.
