  • PJStar- Ruffin Apologizes to fans for distraction & Witness named..

"I apologize to our fans for the distraction that occured the past few days," Ruffin said to the crowd. "I just hope you still support me through this."
Former Bradley teammate Will Franklin told police he was hanging out with Ruffin in the player's apartment at 908 N. Frink when White came to visit after midnight.

"When contacted Tuesday afternoon, White told the Journal Star: "I can't comment now. I'd rather pass on talking about it."

I find it odd that now Miss White has decided that she would "rather pass on talking about it" after all of her statements to the media this weekend. Also, they mentioned Franklin was a witness, but why haven't we heard Ruff's side of the story yet? Her side is stated in the pjstar article, yet his isn't. I don't understand.

Ruffin has given his statement to the police, and Franklin and any other witness would have done the same. Since charges have already been filed, I do not know why these statements wouldn't be public record now. But I think most lawyers would tell their client not to talk publically. Though it might help us public citizens understand better what happened, lawyers believe it could hurt his defense if it goes to trial.

You mean she's not rallying people to 'stick together' anymore?

No, I think she's done getting her name out for awhile. I think she underestimated the public support that Danny had and the implications from it.

            Quote from PJS...
According to the only eyewitness, Ruffin did not "hit, punch or choke" the 20-year-old Bradley student at any time Friday.
Former Bradley teammate Will Franklin told police he was hanging out with Ruffin in the player's apartment at 908 N. Frink when White came to visit after midnight.

White told police she and Ruffin have had a relationship for about 2?? years. She said the two are "not exactly dating, but have a physical relationship."

            --------------------------------------

This will not go to trial unless the AG wants some PR. I wonder though who told her not to talk to the media? Good advice nevertheless.

When do they let Ruff play is the only question?

I think it's smart for Ruffin not to talk. Otherwise, it could incite the girl to become more vocal, and it would just be more back and forth between them.

Let Wil Franklin talk. I think it makes Ruff look better for someone to speak up for him.

What story sounds more probable so far? Hard to imagine Ruff all of sudden lunging at her to choke her for no reason in front of someone else. There's nothing happening in between to incite him. He's going to tell her he wants to end the relationship, so she's the one that logically should be angry.

I think this kind of information is the stuff BU is waiting to be found out by the Journal Star. Let the newspapers and news channels dig-up the details of the story. As more and more comes-out, it'll clearly show Ruff's side of the story without him having to do anything. Again, I think it's better that way. Then it is easier for BU to re-instate Ruff to the team, and easier for the public to accept him back though sounds like they are already supporting him.

I absolutely agree with you ser.. I think things could unfold a bit quicker now that these type of reports seem to be making there way to the press.

I thought it was odd that the PJStar did not have this (witness) story until 10:30pm last night. It is as if they (PJStar) finally decided Ruff was punished enough, and would finally go public with a positive enough story to allow BU to maintain good PR and unsuspend Ruff...

I know for a fact that the PJ Star people who were at the Bradley game on Saturday had every opportunity to know this and since I heard it from numerous sources that day, the only possible way they could have NOT known it would have been to NOT talk with anyone and walk around with their fingers in their ears.

I understand that they wouldn't immediately print what's heard and not confirmed, but had they heard this report on Saturday, it would have been easy to also locate Will Franklin (he was at the game Saturday and quite visible) and interview the police who spoke to many other media outlets, and they would have and could have certainly had this significant part of the story much, much sooner.

So what am I to believe about the reason for a five day delay?

To the credit of one PJS writer, Kirk Wessler, he wrote in his blog and told some BU fans that he was not prepared to write about this subject until he had more of the truths. I believe he will write a more fair column(s) than the reporting we've seen so far.

Now that would be surprising to say the least...

But as I said in the other thread....
