I believe there is precedent at BU for punishments related to a misdemeanor such as battery (i.e. Jabbar Battle?). In this case, there would probably be a 2 game suspension and the player would be back after a first offense.
That's exactly what they did when they suspended him within hours of the incident. They assumed him guilty from the start because he had been arrested.

Usually battered women aren't talking to the media telling everyone how beat up they are. They're usually afraid of further abuse, embarrassed and upset by the situation, or being advised by their lawyers not to say anything. Her comments to the TV station make it sound like she's leading the charge for battered women everywhere. Strange.

I'm just saying why leave him on the bench for 4-7 or 8 games while the "system plays out", when his guilty verdict punishment may have only been 2-3 games.

Guilty before being proven innocent isn't fair, but that scenario REALLY wouldn't be fair.

The more she talks to the media, the more it makes me think she may have exaggerated the extent of her injuries. It seems like she is trying to get the pity vote from the media (Which she has gotten so far), and i hope that as the facts emerge we can get a clear story....

I just have a feeling in my gut that this young woman is trying to get her fifteen minutes of fame.

ER3 -- I don't disagree with you. What I was getting at was Bradley should surely be doing their own investigation, and if their preferred course is to "let the legal process" run and make the decision based on that, then I believe he should be playing while the legal process is running its course.

That's a pretty terrible way to get your 15 min of fame, particularly in a Peoria. I really doubt that's what's happening, but (as I've said before) there are a lot of crazy girls out there (like almost all of them).

In the end it's probably going to be the worst that this situation is getting played out in the media because now everyone thinks that they know what happened and what Braldey should do. If very few (or no) facts were released, then they could handle the whole situation in house without worring too much about the media (and probably the NCAA). I really hope they don't see us going too lightly and punish us for a major program's failure to punish (Indiana, UoI)...

Well, it certainly makes me think the charges will not be dropped in a couple hours.

                  FWIW
I have now learned that it does not help to attempt to discuss all of these updates to a person who's family had been affected by a very real domestic abuse history. Real domestic abuse is an absolute tradegy. (Note, I am not trying to speculate anything into Ruffin's case, just informing you on parts of what is happening within some public opinion circles)

To a person who's family was affected by domestic abuse, "Use of hands and feet" is equally bad as "choking" is equally bad as "cut/busted lip".

When you attempt to talk about these updates as somehow being "better" they, instead see a cumulative abuse that is worse.

Just be careful on how you approach this subject with others..

I've read a couple things today and yesterday that said Ruffins next court appearance is on my birthday of Mar. 18th at 9am. No legal proceedings will take place before that the stories have said. Course with this situation changing by the minute, it's hard to tell what is really happening.

BTW. ER3 is probably spot on.
