I agree that the student's comments were more than over-the-top, but as a student myself, I will say that it is frustrating to see these athletes getting into such trouble. This is the third incident in a year involving BU athletes (four if you include Ray Brown's second positive test). It's becoming a pain in the butt.

I agree 100%, I am tired of it too. But BU doesn't let these kids slide, like this student seems to think. He probably thought the Duke kids were guilty too.

True Scouter. But I wonder how many BU students are involved in trouble that is never reported since they are not "public figures"? I know when I was a student there were plenty of "incidents" Thursday-Saturday night that were handled by BU security or Peoria police that never became public knowledge.

As an Resident Advisor I can GUARANTEE you that this is the case. Things like this happen ALOT on ALL college campuses and no one ever hears of them. I do however, think that Daniel is a different case. He is representing the University and needs to be held to the highest of expectations. I hope DRuff did not commit the crimes he's accused of -- and it seems there actually is a little in question right now, there is some interesting talk spreading through campus, but it's all heresay right now so I won't post it -- but if he did commit the crime he should not play in a BU uniform again. He should be allowed to attend senior night, but not be publicly recognized. DRuff has been a stand-up guy at BU, and represented the University well until this recent transgression, but that does not excuse it and Daniel needs to suffer the repercussions. This is not to say however, that Daniel cannot repair his image with a sincere apology, probably some community service, and time.

Scouter...I agree but I ask you this. Are you JUST as upset with "normal" students that are doing similar things?

I'm just as upset at the bad decisions that we (the students) make.

BUT the difference between us and Daniel (or any other player) is that they're public figures as opposed to private. What they do has more of an impact on how this university is viewed, as opposed to the same thing being done by a typical student. Doesn't everybody say that we hold our athletes to a higher standard? Does that only apply in relation to other institutions, or is it ALSO in relation to the rest of the student body? I say the latter.
