And ISU has about a hundred shooting guards, I think, and beside that, they have no available scholarships. I think that would make a difference to the Roths. I can't see him walking-on. I would be very surprised if Matt Roth would consider ISU.

Say what you want about Roth...but the kid has an elite, elite skill when it comes to shooting the basketball. And Sampson believed him to be capable of playing in the Big Ten...
So, if you are a team like BU that has built your offensive system around the 3-point shot...and if one of the absolute best H.S. shooters in the nation wants to come here...yes, you immediately hand him a LOI and a pen before he gets a chance to rethink it...
There is no one else currently in our recruiting class that is a better prospect than Roth.

I don't dispute that there can be valid questions about Roth being a bit one-dimensional...but that one dimension is as good as any kid being recruited anywhere in the nation right now. And with a BU system in place that calls for 20 to 30 three pointers per game, I want Roth on my team if we are going to run that offense.
Hey, Zack Novak would be nice...Marshall Henderson would be nice...Chris Babb would be nice...etc., etc, etc. But Novak looks to have Big Ten offers coming for him...Henderson has a Gonzaga offer...Babb has Big 12 offers and Vandy showing interest...so I would have to say it would be an unwise recruiting strategy to sit back and wait for one of those guys...becuase they are all probably aiming higher than BU at this point.
We are losing JC and DR this year...so we need shooters going forward...McCain and Roberts may be nice players, but I don't think either guy projects to be an unbelievable shooter...

Our offense is based around the 3-point shot and from our recruiting already done I think it's safe to say that our coaching staff feels comfortable with the bigs we'll have for the next few years, hence going after two guards. Even if we sign Roth, which I think would be a great thing, we'd still have one more scholarship to go after a big man.Onward and Upward!
