  • NCAA or NIT

Unthinkable as it was back in January Bradley is positioning itself to be playing in the Post season.

If they don't run the table in St. Louis (which I think their odds are as good as DU, ISU, and SIU) then it looks like they could very well be playing themselves into the NIT. I think a 20/14 record would get them an invite. Beating Drake got them a win over a top 25 on the road.

I agree, while I know many dont want to think of anything other than us winning in St Louis, I still hope that we may be on the verge of the NIT should the unfortunate happen. I'd say if we go 2-1 to finish the season 18 wins, winning record in conference, and win one or two in st louis, i'd say that's NIT worthy.
    Charge On Charge On Bradley!

i still think 14 in the L column is still way too many to get an at large bid. Win 3 in STL or bust

I agree Heemy, our resume is too weak. STL is about all we got

I don't think we have much chance at an NCAA at large bid. I think we're in position for an "at-large" NIT bid though.

IMO that might be pushing it. All we can do is win and get an out right bid to the real tourney

We have zero chance at the NCAA's and little chance at the NIT right now. We'll need to get to 20 wins to get NIT consideration. Remember, the NIT selection committee is a bunch of old BCS coaches who don't think much of the mids. Outside of the automatic NIT bids (conference champs who don't go to the NCAA's), those old coots are going to pick the middle of the BCS before they give injury consideration to an MVC team. A couple of more wins though, and the CBI Tournament with home games is very likely.

Congrats to Jim Les on BU win #100! There are few of those 100 that are sweeter than tonight!

All we can do is win, the rest will take care of itself.

I don't see an at-large being a possibility. Even if we win out and win 2 in the Lou and lose the championship game, we're sitting at 13 losses. That's a little too many to be considered for an at-large, and losing to teams like Indiana State isn't going to look too good on our resume'. Tonight is a HUGE win, the biggest win of the year.

Last year's regular season and MVC tourney D-1 record was 20-12 with no top 25 wins that was good enough to earn a bid to the NIT

I think we are on pace to get into NIT consideration. The most games we have left (in regular season and MVC tourney)is 6 the least is 4. If we win 4 more games we will very likley get a NIT bid. Although the goal is to win 3 in St. Lou.

Agreed. . .although I think we are a near lock for the NIT at this point. . .the CBI is what I would like. . .obviously I don't want to risk our relationship with the NIT. . .but I feel we'll be in a position to take the better offer, and feel the better offer for us will be the CBI. I also love the concept of the home-home-home best of 3 final series.

And I am basing that on the fact that we got hosed as a 3 seed in the NIT last year having to go on the road for the 2nd round.

Also, BU has participated in all postseason tournaments (including the AAU, Hawai'i, and its own NCBT, as well as the Commisioner's Classic in the 1970's) with the exception of the short-lived NABC tournament. Let's add another to our all-time profile.

I am also eying Central Florida in the CBI as well. . .we are two very similar teams and think that a final series with them would be a lot of fun.

Squirel, you would want Bradley to go to the College Basketball Invitational Tournament before the National Invitational Tournament?

Is it cause we got slighted in seeding last year that you want to stay away from NIT, or has NIT slipped so much in prestige that this new CBI tournament looks better.

Does anyone know anything about this CBI Tournament?

Bradley was a #4 seed in last year's NIT.

I agree with squirrel in that I find the CBI somewhat intriguing because of the format. However, the tournament currently doesn't have a TV contract. While the NIT viewership and overall interest pales in comparison to the NCAA Tournament, it does have an ESPN TV contract, and does offer the opportunity to play on national TV. Until the CBI gets some sort of deal in place, I think it's a no-brainer to want the NIT over the CBI.

MMOB - BU was a 3 seed last year, not a 4 seed. Mississippi St. was a 2 seed, we played them at their place in the 2nd round.
