  • First trip to Peoria

    Hey,

I'll be making my first trip to Peoria in more than a decade. I will be there this coming weekend. I'm excited to go to the UWM game.

Wow 10 years huh? Peoria's almost doubled in size during that time LOL. Be sure to visit the campus and look at the new parking deck/rec area construction. It's not finished but the shell is there. Also view the new interstate configuration. Take a look at the new Grand Prairie mall and the new developments around it by the Weaver Farm on Rt. 150/Rt. 91. Part of Sterling is 6 lanes now as mentioned. Knoxville and Allen Road has totally transformed as well with businesses and new real estate. You'll be in for an interesting visit.

And thanks to the park district, the 74 bridge is no longer red. It's taupe.

Morton opened one of the few unsucessful super Wal-Mart's.

I come in peace...Milwaukee fan here.

Just coming into town this weekend for a great game..question I pose to you.

What would you say is the best sports bar in town to catch a game on TV. Due to the late start of this game, I think were coming down early and hopefully catch some of the huge Butler/Drake game. Let me know!

Buffalo Wild Wings in East Peoria is always a good call. Plus, it's right next to a bridge that'll take you right to Carver Arena. Enjoy your trip.

I 2nd Buffalo Wild Wings. Get some good wings and watch the game for as long as you like. They won't harass you for staying and watching. They have most of the Bradley games, I would be 95% certain they would have the Drake/Butler game on. Address and link to BWW if coming from Carver Arena/Civic Center downtown...

BWW- 833 W. Camp St, East Peoria, IL.... It's only a mile and a couple turns from Carver Arena. Just beware that if your going straight to Carver after BWW, you'll have to turn right on Adams St because Jefferson is a 1 way street.

By the way, why was there only 5,000 or so for the Butler game? I looked at some of the US Cellular attendance records and most were set the last few years, with about 9-10,000, when y'all played Butler. I know you guys aren't having an outstanding year but your hanging up there in a decent league. Well that's about it, hope you "enjoy" your trip to Peoria and Carver Arena, it's going to be packed with 10,000+ and a rockin.

If you are looking for a place with local flavor, HOOP"S Pizza is a hole in the wall place 1 block east of the arena across from the Hotel Pere Marquette on Main St.

Great pizza and lots of Peoria and BU hoops memoabilia.
