  • Marcus Sikes News/Rumor

It is still in the rumor stage but it is being talked about on the UC premium message board.
They believe that Marcus Sikes has agreed to sign a LOI to Cincinnati. No official confirmation elsewhere.
If so, it gives Cincy an awesome recruiting class.

Well...I certainly can't say I'm all that surprised...(if this rumor is true...). Once a kid visits (and is offered by) a Big 10 school and a Big East school after coming here, you have to assume the chances of him coming here are pretty low.
The scary thing to me about all of this is...(assuming POB leaves and Singh isn't ready to go physically this year because of the setback with his ACL)...the only guys we have coming in this year that would be listed as centers or forwards on BU's roster would be Zach Andrews, Xavier Crawford, and Saihou Jassey...ugh...talk about a complete donut in the middle.
I realize we have two (or three) scholarships to give...and I'm assuming we have to get some big guys with those spots...but if Sikes indeed passes, what else is out there that can help us this year??? I have to say it is looking pretty bleak from where I sit. We may have to trot out the ever-elusive 5 guard lineup next year. Yuck. I just hope the coaching staff can prove me wrong and pull a couple of rabbits (big rabbits at that) out of their hats....We'll see.

          Sikes Expected to Announce Soon

I heard he had a great visit here and his coach said after he visited Minnesota that he enjoyed his visit here the most...

He would look good in BU red....
???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???

I am only reporting the rumor as it was discussed, but I might like to still hold out hope that Sikes has not made up his mind yet.
If he goes to Cincy he may have to battle a bit for playing time.

Cincinnati has a couple decent players returning although they lost a ton of players and scoring.
            Cedric McGowan, 6-6 PF
            Angelo Barwin 6-5 SF

And they just signed FIVE nice players
Jamual Warren 6-2 PG junior college transfer
John Williamson 6-6 PF junior college transfer (14th rated juco player nationally)
Marvin Gentry 6-3 SG junior college transfer (50th rated juco player nationally)
Deonta Vaughn 6-3 SG 5th year prep schooler and teammate of Josh Tabb at Cincinnati Harmony Prep.
Tim Crowell 6-2 PG (48th rated juco player nationally)

And there are even more rumors that High scoring junior college player Jamar Smith from San Bernadino (no relation to Illinois' Jamar Smith) will also commit to Cincy. He avg'ed 23ppg as a SG.

So I am still hoping Sikes looks at all the frontcourt players Cincinnati has and reconsiders Bradley.

Just a random question... If we miss out on Sikes, we have pretty much nothing (or so it seems). Is there a chance that we could try to overlook whatever turned us off on Thijin Moses...?

Sam Singh may miss time next season. He has had a setback with his knee. If we are depending on him, we are in big trouble. Anything we can get out of Sam next year would be a great bonus.

Well...I didn't include Singh because there have been a few mentions of him having a setback with his knee and needing to have another surgery...
Maybe this isn't true, but I saw three or four people post something to this effect...
Sam would have been a great help this year...and I hope he somehow can be...but it doesn't sound like a very good possibility...

Thijin Moses is said to be off the board.

Moses is not an inside player, anyway, so he wouldn't be much help where Bradley will need it the most. Moses' game is more like Ray Brown's, mostly perimieter.

With POB we're fine without Sikes. Without POB and Sikes, we may have some frontcourt issues.

I talked to Sam on Saturday night for a brief convo, and he seemed to infer that he will be ready to go for next year.

                              I hope that's the case.
