The #1 ranked recruit in the class of 2007, O.J. Mayo is in trouble again. He has been suspended from his high school for 180 days-
55KRC THE Talk Station, covers national and local Cincinnati news with conservative talk icons such as Sean Hannity and Brian Thomas, as well as lifestyle topics such as Home Improvement with Gary Sullivan, and Lawn and Garden with Ron Wilson.

He had already considered transferring to a prep school for his senior season, this makes it much liklier he will do so.

Mayo's teammate, Bill Walker, who is also ranked as a top 5 national recruit for the class of 2007, is also considering a transfer due to eligibility issues at the Ohio high school he and Mayo attend.

    And one more-
Alex Legion, the #15 ranked player in the class of 2007, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound shooting guard from Country Day High School in Detroit, Mich, had committed to Michigan, but now has changed his mind and reopened his recruitment. He is also considering enrolling at Oak Hill prep school where he could play with Mayo and Walker. He now is thinking of going to Kansas.

Oak Hill also has another top 10 ranked player in the class of 2007, Michael Beasley. He has stated he would like to play for Bob Huggins at Kansas State. Huggins also has a relationship with Mayo and Walker, and might eventually land all 3 at Kansas State.

It is a slight variation to real recruiting.
It involves getting lots and lots of $$ from shoe companies and promoters, and finding ingenious ways to funnel it to high schoolers, so they become loyal to you (and loyal to their source of $$) and then, presto, they will follow you anywhere!

      Here is an interesting site.
It ranks some of the nation's top recruits based on recent AAU play.

Note what they say about Derrick Rose
      "STOCK IS FALLING!"
"for some odd reason he has changed his shooting stroke. Last year, Rose had a drop dead gorgeous jumper, but now he has an ugly behind-the-head catapult slingshot that had no chance of finding the bottom the net."

also, note the comments about one of Bruce Pearl's recruits, Cordell Passley
      "STOCK FALLING"
"What position will this kid play at the collegiate level? He is 6'2", but cannot finish on the drive and he has a mediocre jump shot from deep. He has no PG skills whatsoever. He is not athletic, and not very quick. So what's the deal? Why is he rated so high in other ranking systems?"

I just spoke with a Bradley fan and follower who ran into a kid over this past weekend who was in town for a visit at BU.
It was a 7'1" kid and the kid was downtown in Peoria visiting some restaurants and spots with a couple of the other BU kids, and the fan I talked with was unable to find out the kid's name.
He was not slender, but instead was somewhat bulky kid.

I have confirmed this recruit was David Collins, who I have heard is considering BU.
Collins is a juco freshman from Missouri State University-West Plains. He is originally from Toronto, Canada.
He played along side Tyrone Brazelton this past season at MSU-WP and they were one of the only teams to beat the ultimate NJCAA D-I National Champs (University of Arkansas-Ft. Smith)

        Here are some stats

As predicted, Beasley has withdrawn his committment to Charlotte and has signed with Huggins, after Huggins lured away one of the Charlotte assistants to go to K-State.

More on OJ Mayo's teammate Bill Walker.
His eligibility is in serious question.
Since the kid was in 6th grade, he has changed schools reportedly at least 8 times, causing lots of trouble getting transcripts correct, but it appears he has already played in 4 different high school seasons, which means he is out of eligibility a year before he actually gets a high school diploma.
He will have to go to prep school, because he can't get to college without getting out of high school.

Some updates of the rankings, and note which school is actively in on recruiting every single one of the top FOUR kids in the Class of 2009, as well as many other kids on the list.

yup--BU in there among the big boys like Illinois, DePaul, Kansas, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Indiana.
Just to see Bradley's name there is a boost!!

                Gotta ask

You never get anything unless you ask for it. We'll eventually beat out a Duke, Carolina, Kansas, etc. and then it will snowball

I agree. All it takes is just one. ONE.

Les has the confidence and has No Fear!

This was one of my biggest beefs with Molinari... the Ole Shrug of the Shoulders and 'well, we are just Bradley' mentality.
