Now they are going after Steve Lavin, and if he won't take the job then the final resort will be to throw tons of $$ at West Virginia coach John Beilein. If he doesn't take the job, then there are very few other options still on the table.
NC State's desire is to spend oodles to get someone who can do for them what Roy Williams has done at UNC and what K-SDtate is trying to do.
They want a winner and they want it now, but they are going well into the second tier of options now.
A recent article stated that one of the qualifications that NC State was not willing to compromise on is:
"minimum of five years head coaching experience at an NCAA Division I school"
That eliminates guys who were initially listed in their search like:
Frank Haith, Chris Lowery, Jim Les.
