Take a look back at some of the Sweet 16 cinderella teams and the past and compare those teams to where they are now. Some teams turn the corner and make an impact (Gonzaga) while others return to mediocrity (Valpo).

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Question: What has the new president done during her short tenure to enable you to have this opinion? So far the only thing I see, is that she has made appearances at the games.

I'm just tired of seeing guys come in as JuCo transfers, learn the system for a year, and then maybe contribute their senior year and then leave. As much as I love Franklin, he was a decent role player two years ago, one of the best guards in the Valley last year, and now he's gone. That's the best-case scenario; worst-case is Matt Salley...never contributing except for taking up a roster spot. He may be more athletically gifted than Sam Singh and he may have been here a year longer than Rashad, but he should be our number 3 option in the paint right now (probably number 4 behind DC but I won't even go there).

I just want to see freshmen learn the system, get some minutes their sophomore year (with some becoming good enough to contribute right away of course) and then be solid performers their junior and senior years.

            1) Already one coaching change.
            2) There have already been administrative changes.
            3) There will in all likelihood be more administrative changes.
            4) She is redirecting the upcoming development effort.
            5) The fact she is a fan shows she understands the program's importance to the university's image and visibility.

As for your question Murph, I don't want to pretend to know what she's thinking, but. . .

She gets it. She has all the leadership qualities that have been evident in Bradley's former leaders that have led it to success through the years. I have a gut feeling we are going to see a tremendous change and future at Bradley in the immediate timeframe.

And knowing that makes me feel comfortable.

Are we making a coaching change? Adding football? Switching conferences? Getting a new logo? What is this change you are talking about!

Mostly on the development front. And with her push for making the U. a "brand", a logo will be forthcoming.

I also am pretty sure the carnival committees will be a thing of the past.

There is a new coach in volleyball. That much I know.

I wouldn't anticipate a coaching change until at the very earliest then of the 08-09 season, but if she feels it time to pull the trigger, she won't hesitate.

A little off subject but does anyone know how Bradley plans to deal with its sports programs after Robertson Memorial starts coming down in March? Offices, practice facilities, weight room........I can only assume the new facility will not be ready in time for womans fall sports?

or only recruit players with a minimum of 4 stars from Rivals ... (4 stars ride the bench waiting for an injury while 5 star guys get the playing time)

I honestly think if we go through another season like this next year, Les will be sitting on a very warm seat.

There are plans for everyone located in the Fieldhouse to be moved temporarily to other sites. Most have already been relocated.
The women's basketball team might need to find an alternate location to play their home games next season, and that has not yet been decided. The Riverplex, or a local high school have been mentioned

I believe that the men's practice facility will be one of the first completed parts of the new arena and should be a go by the start of practice next year.

As for volleyball and women's hoops, the Markin Center (which should be ready by fall) will have a "championship" intramural court with bleachers separate from its other courts that they can use on an interim basis. There has been some speculation that games may be played at a local high school or ICC, but to my knowledge there is no substance to that.

Although the longer the men's season goes with a potential NIT or CBI bid, the shorter time frame there is to work with.

Bad idea, you can't let a university president dictate your recruiting styles, if she needs to do something like that then she has the wrong person in that position.

Maybe thats the point squirrel was making.

I hate to say it but we do not deserve a postseason bid right now. The NIT always has 32 good basketball teams...this is currently not us. Our best win right now is probably Wright State on the road...nothing to hang your hat on. When you factor in losses to UIC, Indiana State, Witchita and UNI at home...and the list continues.....

                                Just my 2 cents...

Administrative changes go with the territory of being a new president and putting people in place she is comfortable to work with on projects.

I dont know the specifics, but I would have to think that the coaching change may have been more Ken Kavanaughs thinking than from the new president. (nothing wrong in delegating authority but KK would have been much more in the know on this than the new Prez) Finally, I havent kept up with the redirection of the development effort so in fairness I cant have an opinion there.

So far she is a Bradley fan and is very visable. Not ripping the new Prez, but the book is still out on her.imo
