  • Attendance figures for MVC games

Here are the attendance figures for the MVC games this week--

Missouri State at Illinois State- 5,446.

    Wichita State at UNI-- 4,626

    Drake at SIU- 5,712

    Creighton at Evansville- 4,102

Tuesday- BU at Indiana State- listed at 3,259, but I did a bit of a "count", and there was actually around 1,500 people in the stands.

These numbers are pathetic! I can understand the low numbers at Evansville, but with the new coaches there and at Indiana State, I wonder why they aren't doing a little better.

But the numbers for Illinois State, UNI, and SIU are pathetic!

I hadn't been to the Hulman Center at Indiana St. since the Molinari administration...back in the late 90's when InSU was putting together a few good seasons. Back then it didn't compare to Carver even on a bad night, but the crowd and students were in the game from start to finish and nearly filled the stadium. Tuesday night, they needed their PA announcer to try to rev up the crowd...he kept yelling "c'mon Sycamore fans, GET ON YOUR FEET AND MAKE SOME NOISE" and all you heard was the HVAC system.

We complain about our crowd sometimes, but after seeing that it really puts things in perspective because I can't EVER imagine Bradley drawing only 1,500 fans (short of 2 feet of snow).

      Isu

After their annual Social Night Out last Saturday, the Redbirds drew 5,400 real fans last night against MSU. They may need to make the Final Four before they can fill that place next year. They could have stayed at Horton Fieldhouse.

5400 at ISU is terrible. They are playing great basketball, fighting to get into the NCAA's and only 5400 can get out to watch.

I know that Bloomington/Normal is a town with a lot of people who are not orginally from the area, didnt go to the school etc etc etc, but there are over 21K in students on that campus and if I remember right there is a huge dorm within a 2 minute walk from the arena. Let all the students in for a nickel whatever get the place filled.

Anyway, the marketing department had 10k in their sights last Saturday, they had to know that the ticket sales for the Wednesday were slow, why didnt they come up with an incentive, two for one, something to give those who were not yet convinced that the team was a good product to get out for the MSU game?

        Embarrassing!

I was at the game Tuesday as well and I couldn't believe the lack of a crowd there. There is no way there was anywhere near 2,000 people there, which is really a shame since they've been really good at home this season.

            Pathetic.....
But if you really think 5446 were at the ISU game, I have some swamp land to sell you....
you decide............here are pics of the lower bowl...........kinda looks like the Indiana State arena last Tuesday...

I wonder when we are recruiting against any of these schools if this is brought up as who wants to play in mostly empty arenas.
