  • Missouri Valley Conference Standings - 2/12/08 with tiebreakers

Though some are concerned, I don't think BU will have to worry about the play-in game. But, 6th is now a definite possibility...

BU should definitely worry about the play-in game, IMO. Two left vs. Creighton, @ Drake and home against an SIU team that always gives us fits. That's a nasty end to the schedule.

To tell you the truth, after watching the game tonight, I am worried about playing on Thursday. Indiana St. is a game behind us and we don't exactly have a cakewalk for our last 3 conference games. Creighton @ home, SIU @ home, @ Creighton. With how we played tonight, something is going to have to change to avoid the 7th spot.
On a side note though, I couldn't tell you offhand who Indiana St. has in their final games and whether they are home or away. If their remaining games are away then yeah I think we'll be okay, but if they are home for 2 of the 3 then I am worried.

Edit: I forgot about the Drake game at Drake. Playing like we did tonight, I don't see us having a chance up there.

Indiana State is home for 3 of them. Here's the thing. They have to gain a game on us. If we go 2-2, which I expect, they'd have to go 3-1 just to move into a tie with us. If that happens ... they'd have to be ahead in tiebreaker points, which simply won't happen. You get more points for playing better teams, so each win we get will be exponentially better than if they beat Missouri State or Wichita State.

The only way Bradley will be in the play-in game is if we go 1-3 to finish the regular season. And even if that happens, there's no guarantee Indiana State would pass us, anyway. I simply don't see that happening.

With all this talk of play-in game scenario's, I have a question for you guys:

Will you root for Illinois State to beat Mo State on Wednesday and Indiana State on Saturday? Those would be the teams BU could potentially be battling with for the 6th seed. (along with UNI)
