Yes, it's exactly what people said about POB. No one seems to want to believe JL. He seems to think this kid is special.
well I don't rmember those things being said about POB really.
I didn't see POB play but I have seen X play. We'll see how it goes. It seems like many of the guys on BTM has some type of issues. I don't remember anything like that with POB
Some info I found on XC.................... He's had some big-time schools look at him. JL may be right; he may be a special talent.
Mt. Zion Big Man Xavier Crawford Commits to MVC
Mt. Zion Big Man Xavier Crawford Commits to MVC By Chris Monter
Date: Aug 7, 2005
Xavier Crawford, a 6-foot-11, 215-pound forward from Durham (NC) Mount Zion Christian Academy, has committed to Bradley, according to the Peoria Journal Star.
Xavier Crawford picked the Braves after receiving recruiting interest from Kansas, Utah, Michigan and Xavier. Crawford will get a chance to join former high school teammate and freshman guard Ray Brown of Richfield (MN) High with the Braves. Both players played alongside sophomore center Patrick O'Bryant on Team Minnesota.
Crawford left Richfeld, which finished runner-up in Class AAA, to attend Mt. Zion last season where he was reclassified as a junior. Crawford, who has yet to take his ACT, played for the Georgia Hurricanes in the Big Time Tournament.

Mount Zion's 6-foot-10, 225 pound power forward/center Xavier Crawford is playing with the Georgia Hurricane this summer as he continues in his quest to reach his potential. A number of Big Ten schools are looking at Xavier and he will be visiting Bradley come August. Crawford, a skilled shot blocker, continues to polish his game playing against major competition on a daily basis.
Welcome to Hurricanes Basketball!
The Georgia Hurricanes took the nation by storm claiming the most successful AAU basketball organization in the South! Key players:
Jodie Meeks commits to Kentucky! "That was a big thing for me," Meeks said of the state's passion for the game. "There's no professional sports in Kentucky. It's all about basketball. Basketball is a way of life." Meeks, a 6-foot-4 combo guard rated the No. 34 prospect in the nation by Rivals.com, announced his intention to attend UK during a press conference at Norcross High School. Meeks, an excellent student who has already qualified to play in college."It just felt right at Kentucky," said Meeks, who grew up a UK fan. "It was the best place for me."
Xavier Crawford is an athletic big man, who prides himself on playing tough defense and rebounding the basketball. With an impressive showing this summer, as well as a good high school season, expect to hear big things about Crawford in the future.
Another quote from an article.................. Now that the summer AAU season is over, numerous prospects are getting ready to either make their college decisions or take official visits. One of the top players at the adidas Superstars Camp was Xavier Crawford. Crawford had originally planned to make a springtime decision, but this weekend he decided to pull the trigger and issue his verbal commitment

lefty, I went down several times to the RiverPlex that summer, to watch the kids play before their freshman year, and I am sure you were there a couple times, too. You may not have been there the times Patrick was there.
I can recall several comments made by people who were there at the RiverPlex saying that Patrick was slow, didn't have a shot, couldn't get up and down the court, was out of shape, and probably ought to be redshirted because he wasn't ready.
The next day after those few games that O'Bryant played in, there were many similar comments on the message board (not this board, as this board didn't start up until Jan. or 2005.
Of course all those posts no longer exist, but I definitely recall them.

I'm not disagreeing T..I just didn't remember them. Maybe I wasn't reading the board as much.
Looks like White thinks he will struggle. we'll see. Has he passed the ACT? I don't rmember that either but again i don't read here real consistently anymore.
The Boys to Men school website annaounced that Xavier had received a passing score on his ACT.
Note the announcement in the top right "Congratulations".
FINAL LOOK AT THE 2006 SEASON
Apr 11 2006 - Shawn Powell
Here is a look at the top players from the class of 2006. For a complete ranking list of this class go to the 2006 icon on the home page of BBT.
CENTERS WHO WILL STRUGGLE
Hamidy N'Diaye, Rutgers
Mitchell Carter, South Carolina
Derek Oestreicher, New Mexico
Xavier Crawford, Bradley
Franklin Jones, UTEP
Mount Zion Christian in Durham, N.C., which went from fame to notoriety under ex-coach Joel Hopkins, has a new $3 million facility but the same old complaints of academic indifference. Ex-Mount Zion player Xavier Crawford told SportsLine.com: "If we did go to school, we slept in class. A lot of side things were happening outside of school that were taken into school. A lot of chaos." Mount Zion headmaster Donald Fozard questioned McCray's motives, noting he left after losing his scholarship. "Xavier was not a top-notch basketball player anyway," Fozard says. "He should thank God he got a scholarship."
I think even the Bradley coaches would liked to have given XC a redshirt year to get stronger and adjust to Div I play, especially since he has not played much in the last 2 years. So it doesn't surprise me to see him on such a list.
The other link with the quote from the Mt. Zion coach has been posted here, and it's clear there was friction between XC and the coach. XC was probably frustrated he never got to play much. But IMO there is never an excuse for a coach to say something as denigrating about one of his former players as that fool did.
I'll stick my neck out and predict he will have a better career than Heemskerk did.
MAYBE IF HE WOULD OF GOT SOME PT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT
What the....???
The CAPS suggest you are a little ticked off.... about Heemy's playing time?
Please tell me the minutes he would have (deservedly) taken away from particular players that got more playing time than him.
As for 'maybe getting more playing time, things would have been different'... how about Richie Pillman getting more playing time back in early 90's (a walk on) - maybe things would have been different for him too.
NOTE: I edited so the 'quotes' came from where they were supposed to. Also added the Richie Pillman comment.
