  • Why Aren't We After This Area Kid?

Eric McCullough 6'9" 220 lbs power forward from University HS in Normal, Illinois. He's got offers from Niagara, UT-Martin, IUPUI, Holy Cross, and North Florida. Wichita State, SIU-Edwardsville, and Evansville are also high on him...roughly 40 minutes away from campus, have we even given him a look?

I don't know where Bradley stands with McCullough.
    Why isn't Illinois State interested?

I really think MVC is a streach for him.

Illinois State isn't recruiting him due to the fact they have one scholarship and are looking to land a big wing. They are really hoping to get 6'5" Donald Stewart, a senior wing at Champaign Central High School. Personally, I just post this to spark some interest. I've seen McCullough plenty times. I feel that he can be an MVC player in time but may need a redshirt year. He'd be very good at in the Summit or Horizon League.

Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

No, they have one more. Contrary to what some may believe, Oguchi will walk on and that's straight from Coach Jank.

That's interesting news. I wonder if Oguchi knows about that?

No disrespect intended but I have a hard time believing a guy from Texas, who transfered from the Pac-10 to Illinois State, or anywhere for that matter would do it as a walk-on and pay his own way. Doesn't seem to make much sense. I understand it in Mischler's case, but not Oguchi's.

I am not saying you are wrong, but that is very unusual.

                    Edit:If true..that's great for ISU.

You might want to double check this. I don't think Oguchi is walking on.

Eric McCullough just verballed to Illinois Wesleyan.
The article says he turned down 11 D-I scholarship offers and is NOT receiving a scholarship from IWU.
So you have to wonder if the kid really just loves the game and wants to go to IWU, or maybe some or most of the D-I offers had contingencies like redshirting or walking on a year first?

I would bet as a 6-9 pitcher, the opportunity to keep that door open by playing baseball too, had something to do with his decision.

Why would we want a guy who is only getting interest from Low-major schools (other than Wichita State)? Yes, I consider Evansville a Low-major and wish they would leave the conference and be replaced by someone like St. Louis or Butler.
