Wow, ISU fans are bad, very rarely have a seen more classless group of people. I'm sure part of it was because I was in the upper bowl, but still. I honestly don't think a single one of their cheers was free from obscenities. The itself game was huge disappointment, with a little bit better play we would have won easily.

just got back....
the ISU students had some really classless chants. Every time a BU player was called for a foul, the entire student section (and cheerleaders?) yelled YOU - SU<K - D*CK
Also multiple chants of "F - U - B - U"
I guess I shouldn't really have expected class, though. I have never and can't imagine ever hearing chants like that in Peoria.
The ISU fans in front of me didn't know the names of their players.
The ball bounced their way tonight. A loose ball here, an in and out shot there and Bradley wins. We are the better team.

I dont know if it was just me or what but we missed a lot of free throws tonight. I'm not saying we lost because of that because we got killed in the paint.
In reference to the cheers, I didn't expect any less because we knew they would be a hostile crowd. I highly doubt we could get away with that at Bradley though and frankly, I wouldn't even want to try. It lacked class and granted we have some students that can go over the top, but you won't hear our students doing chants like that.
Speaking of students, Kudos to the students who showed up and stood and cheered the whole game, a friend of mine from ISU who was across the arena said that they could hear us over their own fans at times. I felt that we were well represented at the game tonight.
Bring them on in the tournament. If there is one team I would love to keep from winning the tourney it is them.

I must have been watching a different game. I thought it was very entertaining. There was a BU contingent sitting above me and I saw no one hassling them. When the student section started singing "you're not gonna make it" for DR's freethrow I was cracked up. Ruffin did pop one in from about 29 feet. OE had three or four reverse layups.
I still like AW. After he made that foul in the final 10 seconds he still had a smile on his face. What positive energy- rarely seen anymore. You guys need some bigs in a bad way. I wouldn't feel so bad, ISU is pretty deep.

Just got back. I have not seen that many middle fingers in a long time. Props to all the BU fans that made it, there were a lot of Bradley fans there. For all the criticism we have about our own crowd, a Bradley home crowd is hand down better than a crowd at ISU. Noise, class...Return to Glory

Tough game to watch at Bar Louie....the feed kept going out every 10-15 seconds. It seemed like one stretch in the second half killed us when they got 4-5 chances to score. We had our chances.
Did anyone see the no call on Slack jumping on Austins back...then Austin tried to free himself up and gets the whislte...arghhhhhh.
I think we just ran out of time. I'd like to see em again at St Louis.
On to InSU.

SM makes his wide open missed lay up, Austin makes one of two from the line and Ruffin makes all of his and we are tied. Basketball is sometimes a very small margin for error. They played very well, didnt miss much in the second half, we didnt do anything for about 10 minutes, the last 3 of the first and the first 7 of the second, yet we lose by 4.
The rebounding should be better, the interior defense should as well, but that was a good team we lost to tonight and it was extremely close to a win in a game we did not play well in on the road. Never a good lose, but this is not a lose to hold our head down about, but we have to rebound and play a full 40 minutes at Indy State Tuesday.
I think a short turnaround is a great thing for this team. Need to get the Trees on Tuesday.

Some thoughts:
I have to admit that the "your not gonna make it cheer from ISU was pretty good. And I will admit to copying that cheer and yelling that out when the ISU player was at the line with 8 seconds to go in the game...and yes I got some dirty looks from the ISU fans in the immediate area when he missed the first freethrow. But I really didnt care as this was for a good cause and it gave me a good laugh!
ISU has a physical team and played well tonight.
Not saying this would have made a difference, but I would have liked to see us utilize Andrew Warren more in the second half.
ISU pep band is really bad.. The Led Zepplin song they played in the second half sounded as if the band was about to go into a coma!
Last but not least. After seeing tonight's game, I am starting a new RASHAD AUSTIN CLUB. It is time to get RA in the STARTING LINEUP.
With Austin in the lineup, we have a team player who was able to clear a lane for Ruff to drive to the hoop, more aggressive inside presence, and an inside player whose chip shots actually look to have a chance to go in the hoop. RA has his faults, but tonight I thought that we played better as a team when Austin was on the floor. The campaign has begun and the signature below has been officially changed.Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final
???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Not much really to complain about IMO. We got up big early, but I think we all knew that it wasn't going to be that easy. For 32 minutes, BU was the better team. But, for the last 4 minutes of the 1st half (12-2 run to end the half) and first 4 minutes of the 2nd half (10-2 run to 1st official TO) was the ball game. BU outscored the 'Birds by 2 in the final 16 minutes. That 22-4 run over the span of 2 halves was the ballgame.
Still, we had our chances down the stretch. A few more made FT's, and a better bounce on Osiris's fadeaway and maybe we're winners tonight. But, in a close game, usually the team with the best player wins. Osiris Eldridge was the best player on the floor, and is the best player in the MVC. He was more or less unstoppable all night, and especially when they needed him most.
I feel just as confident about this team now as I did before the game. I think we're going to win on Tuesday, and wouldn't be surprised if we won out.Onward and Upward!

Haven't been to a game in Normal since before Redbird Arena. Couldn't handle the crap they gave Bradley fans. Looks like things haven't changed. I always said ISU was a Division 1 team with Division 3 fans. What part of illegal don't you understand?

Story--
NORMAL, Ill. -- Illinois State sophomore guard Osiris Eldridge scored a game-high 24 points and point guard Boo Richardson made 1-of-2 free throws with 8.0 seconds remaining to secure a 72-68 Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball victory versus Interstate 74 rival Bradley (14-11, 7-6 MVC) Saturday night at Redbird Arena.? The Redbirds (17-7, 9-4) snapped Bradley's six-game overall winning streak, while also ending a six-game slide against their rival Braves.? Senior point guard Daniel Ruffin (Peoria, Ill./Central H.S.) scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half, while sophomore guard Andrew Warren (Indianapolis, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit Prep) chipped in with 10 points for the Braves.? Correction - I do have a complaint. ISU is not good enough offensively to shoot 58% for the game. That's unacceptable. I think it's amazing that teams continue to shoot season-high percentages against us. I guess most of that is probably due to our lack of a real inside presence (Slack and Odiakosa combined to go 11 for 12 from the field), since I thought our guards did a decent job despite Osiris's big night (Boo, Dom, and Holloway combined to go only 5 for 18, including 2 of 7 from 3). Story of the season I guess.Onward and Upward!

The most irritating part was I felt like a lot of the easy inside baskets came against our zone... which, at least in my simple basketball world is supposed to make scoring inside harder. I also think it has a bit to do with the "4-guard." It seemed like a lot of the scores came after whoever was playing center came out to help on something, and there was no other big to rotate in behind him.
