Jim les gave some advice to Partick from the podium.
Jim gave the advice as Patrick's head coach and mentor,
as a guy who has been in the NBA,
as a guy who has seen the business side of playing basketball, and as a guy who knows the ups and downs of being in the NBA.
Jim's advice was
"If you are a top 10 pick, you should go. If not, you should stay."
He will make himself available but not hire an agent.
This allows him the opportunity to come back to school correct?? At least up until a certain deadline???
Do you guys think he is gone for sure??? I've seen some reports that believe he is a lock 1st rounder with his and the team's NCAA performance.
The guaranteed money will be there it appears. I wish him luck. I kinda hope he stays for 1 more year. I think he could use the time in the weight room, but if he goes somewhere 15-20 in the 1st, that's an awful lot of green to turn down.
If he does leave, he had a very strong 2 years with you guys. I wish him luck.
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

Now let's see how things unfold.
It would appear JL's "10 or better, then go" advice is related to maximizing POB's income stream over the course of an NBA career. I do a lot of corporate financial analysis and, out of curiosity, ran preliminary numbers on income streams of the 2005 draft. I think JL's assessment is pretty spot-on. From a financial perspective, I think POB will make more money, possibly a lot more money, in the NBA by waiting a year instead of going as a mid-first round pick this year. All he would need to do is improve his draft postion by 5-6 spots in 2007 to recover his first year rookie income in 2006 if he goes in the middle of the first-round.
Obviously, all BU fans will support POB in whatever his eventual decision is.
The last I saw on ESPN was around 17 to 19 but that was about a week ago.
That's what i saw, too. Just about all the ones I've seen have him in the 15-22 range in Round 1.

This is a great point. I think all he has to do to attain that is add some more muscle and explosion to his frame, have a strong, healthy year and he'd have it. He would certainly benefit from another year in school. His draft position would only climb if he returns.
You are right. The money at picks 7-12 is significantly better than say 18-22. The young man has a tough, but good decision ahead of him. A very exciting future either way he goes.

You hit in on the head DC.....its GREAT to have options/choices. Especially when they are all/both good ones. He REALLY can't back a bad choice between the two.
Just something to think about, and I'm not trying to put down Pat, but if he does come back, think about the possible draft next year. Players such as Greg Oden, Tyler Hansborugh, and Glen Davis would most likely come out, and I know you can never say for sure what will happen, but the chances are better that they would leave then stay. It's just something to think about with regards to where Pat would be picked next year if he stays.

I agree but sometime a year in D-I basketball exposes flaws so you really never know what next year draft will be like. POB has a huge upside and is probably on par with some of the top HS players when it comes to potential. I only hope he gets great advise and makes the best choice for his career. I also wouldn't mind if he had a chance to speak with Tim Duncan.
