I can share some of my mixed emotions???‚¬?¦
1 ???‚¬??? Patrick is young. He is a great guy and a wonderful young man???‚¬?¦but he IS a young man that is still very much maturing both physically and emotionally. His growth the past two years in both areas has been amazing. I am not quite saying he is being ???‚¬?“thrown to the wolves,???‚¬?? but he will certainly not be nurtured in the NBA like he has been at Bradley.
2 ???‚¬??? He has a dominant figure in his life that is clearly forcing this issue. One who has done most of his research on the internet and from information gathered through agents. Advice from a coach who is knowledgeable and really went to bat for Patrick ???‚¬???at his one personal risk ???‚¬??? is largely ignored. Taking advice from agent(s) who very clearly are only concerned about money seems to be a very large mistake to me.
3 ???‚¬??? He is passing up a year in his life as a college student that he can never get back. Why do this?
4 - I firmly believe Patrick is on the rise and is NOT going to be viewed less favorably in the future. I wrote earlier that if someone thinks Patrick has plateaued and will not continue to improve, then this is the time to go. I wonder what evidence they have to make that judgment, however. Does anyone really think the NBA is not going to be interested in Patrick next year? Everyone agrees Patrick needs to develop strength, stamina, and general playing skills. He also needs to continue to build his confidence. It will be hard to do any of those next year in the NBA.
5 ???‚¬??? The only real reason to leave is for money. From a purely financial perspective, I honestly believe Patrick can be drafted five places highest next year than this year, which would make leaving this year a poor financial decision.
Now, for the "mixed" part...
1 ???‚¬??? He will be a wealthy young man. If he and his family can???‚¬?„?t wait a year for this, then he should go now.

I think they are clear, but here you go???‚¬?¦
2 - Coach Les has a wealth of personal experience and contacts in the NBA that can and have provided guidance to Patrick. This advice seems to be very sound and absolutely in Patrick???‚¬?„?s best interest. This advice seems to be discounted in favor of undescribed ???‚¬?“research???‚¬?? or agents, who certainly have THEIR best interest in mind and stand to profit from Patrick.
1 - I can understand situations where a family is clearly in financial need. If that is the case, then it might be worth giving up a year your youth to alleviate the financial burden. I don???‚¬?„?t think anyone is debating if Patrick is going to make millions of dollars playing basketball. The question is simply is that money coming in 2 months or 14 months. If his family needs the money now, then I think he should go. If not, then I think it is in his short-run and long-run best interest to stay.
I simply can not imagine twenty years from now that anyone would regret another year in college!
