  • Sam Maniscalco featured in Chicago Tribune

Great article by highly respected Tribune writer John Mullin -

    http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/bradley/cs-080207-bradley-maniscalco,1,4734908.story

Now the link is correct. My mistake.

That link takes you to a story about Viktor Khryapa...

I think this is the right link

      Here is a scary thought--
Sam Maniscalco, as a freshman, already has overall better numbers than Daniel Ruffin had as a freshman!

2004-2005 was Daniel Ruffin's freshman season. He had already sat out 1 year at Bradley, so he even had a slight advantage of acclimating to college, and getting a chance to scrimmage with the regular players for a full year before he started his freshman season.

Here are Ruffin's stats from his freshman season--
      28 gms/27 started..34.1 mpg..FG 37.4%..27% 3pt..76.5% FT..6.3 ppg..3.0 rpg..4.7 apg..2.6 to/g..1.81 ratio..1.42 spg

Sam's 2007-2008 stats- and remember that most of Sam's games, he is playing alongside a potential All-American point guard, which Daniel never did.--
      24 gms/9 started..26.5 mpg..FG 40.1%..37.0% 3pt..78.0% FT..7.6 ppg..1.6 rpg..3.5 apg..1.5 to/g..2.24 ratio..0.83 spg

FYI the link text (What we see) is correct, but the actual link is still wrong (my ie shows the link at the botton left of the window)

Nice story on Sam, I can't wait to see how good Sam is gonna become. I believe by the time his career at BU is finished he'll be one of the greats.

Don't ask me why I was cutting and pasting an article about Victor Khryapa...but Tornado's link should work. John Mullin is one of the veteran writers at the Trib, so I think it's quite a compliment getting an article from him. Hopefully the positive press continues with a run in March.

Nice read. I'm excited that Bradley and Sam Maniscalco are getting some Chicago pub. I'm also really happy with Sam's play this year. Very glad he decided to come to BU.

We need to take advantage of this by getting some more Chicago recruits as there are a lot of good players up there and Bradley needs to land a few more of them.

Bradley is recruiting Chicago hard and will continue to get an occasional player. But the Public League stars are a different story. If you run a clean program, you don't stand much of a chance. PM me if you don't understand.

Agreed. Public League recruiting is as shady as it gets. BU has had enough NCAA problems, they don't need any more by trying to play the Chicago Public League game.

It's even scarier if you look at it compared to their per 40 minutes for the two. Sam is averaging 8 mins less a game than DR did. Haha, and people said I was blasphemous for suggesting this exact scenario at the beginning of the season. I stand by my predictions this summer that SamM will be regarded as one of the Bradley Greats, and that may include surpassing DR. Included are per 40 minutes totals.

Min PPG RPG APG SPG TOPG
                      DR 40.0 7.4 3.5 5.5 1.7 3.0
                      SM 40.0 11.5 2.4 5.3 1.3 2.3
