Agree fully...It sounds like he is a 6'4" or 6'5" guard with unlimited shooting range that is a little limited as far a pure athleticism is concerned...and that appears to be the only reason he hasn't gotten the high major offers at this point.
I would hope we would have a good shot with him...because at BU, we should be able to show him examples of two players on our current team (Crouch and Warren) that have the same set of strengths and weaknesses as he does, and we could show him stats and game film of these two guys to prove to him that there is no reason that he shouldn't be able to get significant playing time early in his career here and excel as a 4-year key contributor at BU.
These wouldn't be some empty promises of playing time that a coach at a Big 12 or SEC school would lay on him just to get him to sign...These would be concrete examples of players very similar to him that are playing key roles and big minutes on this BU team right now...That should carry a lot more weight as long as the kid is getting realistic advice from his coaches and family...
In the stuff I've read on him, it sounds like his coach is very realistic about his athletic limitations...and how those athletic shortcomings might hurt his chances of playing big minutes on a top Big 12 or SEC team...I just hope his parents and Chris himself are taking these things into consideration...because it seems like it happens too often where a kid says 'I want to go to a place where I'll get a chance to play...I want to go to a place where I'll get a chance to play as a Freshman...' and then late in the recruiting process an Indiana, K-State, or Tennesee will come into the mix with a last minute offer and the kid, his coach, and his family will suddenly get star struck and jump at the chance to sign with the big name program...Then two years later, the kid is languishing on the bench and he's getting recruited over and ends up having no impact as a player.
It's certainly up to the player to decide what is most important to them, but if you are a good shooter with limited athleticism and playing early and often in your career is a priority, you need to be realistic and start looking at quality mid-major programs. And I hope that Chris ends up looking long and hard at BU because it sounds like it would be a great fit for him...
