  • New thread for Questions for the coach (#2)

A lot of posters' questions were asked on the Jim Les show last night (2/4).

So we need more for future shows.

Most of the questions used were the very short, concise questions, that called for simple, short answers. So keep the questions short.

    Thanks.

    Here's my first question......

-- Eddren McCain has already committed to BU, has anyone from your staff been to see any of his (and his teammates') games?

Great to hear the coach take our questions. Thanks to da coach and Dave for facilitating this.

      Questions--

Do you think Barry Hinson has done a good job at Missouri State? He seems to always be under fire from their fans.

What do you think is in the future for the MVC? Would you be in favor of expansion?

You have played a lot more zone defense this year than in previous years, yet we have more depth. Why do you think the zone defense helps this team?

Who would be your choice for the All MVC players at this point of the season? And the Coach of the Year, so far?

Coach Les, who was the coach that recruited you to Cleveland State (before you transferred to Bradley)? Was that the best Division I offer you got out of high school, or were there others?

What caused you to leave Cleveland State and transfer to Bradley?

How much contact have you had with the other Bradley players you played with like Hersey, Jerry Thomas, Donald Powell, Mike Williams, Len Bertolini, etc?

Are any of your former teammates in coaching?

Do you ever get tired of the travelling?

Does Mrs. Les like Peoria? Does she miss living in California?

      Thanks.

        1. How long did you practice for your Soulja Brave routine and can we expect any more routines in the future? --not going to let you live that one down coach!

        2. Will Egolf seems to me to be a cross between a 3 and 4 poisition player in the college game. What position do you see Will developing into in the future?

        3. Do you think that the AAU coaches should place more emphasis on fundamentals?

        4. After the new facilities are completed, can we expect a pre-season scrimmage at the new facilities similar to what we had this year at the Fieldhouse?

          1) I like the offense the teams runs out of the high post w/ either Singh or Austin catching in the middle and funneling the ball to the wings. Is there any chance we will see more of that as we seem to move the ball better and get better shots out of it?

          2) Will Sam Singh be coming back next year?

          3) Do you change your gameplan at all for the conference tournament being that its at least 3 games in less than 72 hours (i.e. players minutes, rotations)?

            Coach-

There's been some consternation among the faithful regarding having so many Horizon League opponents on this year's and next year's schedules. Knowing that travel costs must be factored in, that being said, will BU attempt to schedule more schools outside of the midwest for future years? The perception is we're getting "stuck" with lesser opponents because we're staying close to home.

Again, this is a great idea, while listening to last night's show, it was really awesome to hear all the questions I saw posted!

My question is ... why do we abandon our big man rotation during the second half of every game?

The 2nd half of the Mo. St. game was markedly different from the 1st half. Did you use this opportunity to evaluate/practice different offensive sets, defenses, lineups, etc. against real competition or did we just bog down which led to the "tale of 2 halves?"

                    Questions for coach:

Who did you learn the most from in the NBA? Which coach, which other players?

What NBA coach did you enjoy playing for the most?

Can you still beat your son playing 1 on 1?

Coach: Why does David Collins see the floor for two minutes per game? He appears to be our only inside threat to get his own shot and he certainly alters shots on defense.

Will Rashad Austin's playing time continue to increase?

Coach, is it too late in the season to implement a new offensive scheme? I think that a scheme that Duke uses in which a guard or forward drives to the basket and then dishes off to an open guard or forward for an open 3 would be a very effective scheme for BU. This scheme also opens up the inside game.

Do we have any chance at getting a true center that can score and rebound for next season?

Some of you don't understand how hard it is to recruit a good center or a true point guard. And anymore it is getting hard to find a power forward.

Nobody said it was easy but if we could come up with somebody that is capable of scoring 10 points and defending around the basket we would be hard to beat.
