I think that it was very obvious in that interview, it was a situational decision. Bob Knight will be back!

Well if Bobby were to come back, I cant see him returning to a major school. He had a gift given to him with a job at Texas Tech and we have seen the results. Bobby has too much baggage and can now be called a quitter. Too much risk for a major school to accept.Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

I couldn't see this. Anything other than IU would accomplish nothing. Coming home to IU as a swan song would be the feather-in-the-cap to complete Knight's legacy and stick it to those who ran him out. I wouldn't be surprised if some of his old cronies and contacts gave him any early "heads-up" on Sampson's situation.
By the way, is the university president that ran him off gone?

Completely agree. And I guess that means we should fire everyone who throws things on the field.
The last time I checked, we have a fiery manager on the north side of Chicago who's been known to throw things onto the field. His name is Lou Pinella. I guess that means we need to fire him right away too!
Come to think of it, Ozzie Guillen should go too considering some of the stuff he has said in the past.

Well we will have to agree to disagree on RMK... I actually used to like Knight early in his career. But his act got really old really fast with me. If we were only talking about a chair throwing incident or the fist slamming on the scorers table in the NCAA tournament, then I would be fine with everything. As an x's and o's coach, he is one of the best and yes he did run a clean program.imo But I believe that coaches are an extension of the University and in some ways represent the community. Knight's numerous antics and absolute power at IU through intimidation is the main point of my opinion on him as a coach and to this day, I believe that Myles Brand handled the situation very well.Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

Now that he runs the NCAA let's see how he comes down on the present Hoosier coach. Sampson has broken more rules in two years at Indiana than Bob Knight did in 29 years. If Brand doesn't come down hard on KS, it will be just an extension of his hypocritical history.Member of the Devil's Advocate Society
