Tonight's show was great, maybe the best show I have heard in a while! Maybe I'm biased a little, since Dave asked a lot of the questions that our board members submitted. They were great questions. And I liked listening to Coach Merfeld, too.

If anyone missed the Jim Les show tonight, check it out by listening to the archived file. It is not posted, yet, but usually is posted a day or 2 after the show here--

      Thanks Dave, Merf...

I caught the last few minutes of the show and Dave asked, citing it as an email, my question about a 4 and a 5 at the same time. I will have to listen to the whole thing and listen for other questions of ours. Dave even threw in a mention about 4 guards (thanks Dave). Merf was asked about it, but he couldn't even pronounce misnomer during his response. As you can guess, I was not pleased with the reponse, but I would not expect him to say, "Hey, you are right, we are wrong." But, I would have expected a little less defensiveness since the issue has been so apparent. He could have elaborated on a them of "yes, we have had that short coming, but we are working on it," rather than saying Rashad is playing more and Daniel can rebound. Unless of couse he is getting tired of hearing about it. He said rebounding isn't even about size, that it is a misnomer and that we have a system. Well, that is partially true, but if I can be the most blunt yet, the "system" gets out butt kicked on the boards when we play a strong team. Suffice it to say I would love to have the coaches address some of my key posts more specifically, as I think they more clearly point out the issues and I think they would have hard time addressing head-on, but I know that will never happen. I really grimmaced when I heard, "system." He used that for my question and a caller's. It truly irritates me when coaches get glued to a system--it leaves you wondering about many things. They should read-up on the concept of "escalation of committment" and all the negatives it entails.

Again, I'd like to thank Dave for the opportunity he gave us. I would also like to thank him publicly, while I'm thinking about it, for something he did for me several years ago. I cannot remember if it was '94, '95, or '96, but we had a big win at home (I think De Paul) that I missed but I really wanted to see. I missed it because I was in St. Louis for graduate school. Dave loaned his personal game video for my dad to relay to me. I liked Dave before, but since then he has always been number one in my book. Thanks Dave.

The main thing about a "systems" is... once the money is gone, at least you still have your "system". Oh wait.... that applies to Roulette players.

But seriously.... once the rebound is gone, at least we still have our system.

Wow.. I missed tonight's show. Can anyone give a brief synopsis about JL's response to some of the questions?

here are some of the questions and responses i can think of on the top of my head. these arent direct quotes but basically the questions and responses

Are we looking into playing in the great Alaskan shootout next year since we have the connection with WE?

JL: Not likely next year but def looking into it next year

            Whats with TSC shooting?

JL: still adjusting, always been a starter, learning his role

Chance of playing a game with a Duke, Kentucky, UNC?

JL: After our contracts are up with Iowa St, Mich St etc we will look into playing teams with high rpi's , great for recruiting, getting exposure

Any of our big men attending big man camps this summer?

JL: too early to think about that, would be great for them if they can

How do you do your recruiting?

JL: subscribe to online recruiting sites, AAU programs, send out memos, connections with different coaches

Are we going to play overseas over the summer for preseason?

JL: It is time to do that (every 4 years you can) not likely this summer but def looking into it for the following year

thats all i can think of... i only listened for about 25 mins
