  • MVC standings going into St. Louis

Alright guys, put up your guess on what the final MVC standings will be going into St. Louis. Here are mine.

    1) DU: 17-1
    2) BU: 12-6
    2) SIU: 12-6
    4) ISU: 11-7
    5) CU: 10-8
    6) ISU: 9-9
    7) NIU: 8-10
    8. MSU: 5-13
    9) WSU: 3-15
    9) EU: 3-15

That's my prediction. I have Creighton and ISU sliding, with BU on the run, as well as InSU finally winning some road games along with their home games. Drakes one loss going to the Braves at home. NIU has a tough schedule so I don't see them winning many in the future. Also MSU goes on the largest slide of all, while the shockers only win one more game. I don't know if any team has ever finished at or worse than 3-15 though...so that my not be what happens. Bradley's other loss comes on the road at Creighton.

So what do you all think??

Stryker...you're thinking like I am thinking....2nd place isn't totally out of reach, but then also....we are one injury away of Thursday night.

I did the same exercise a bit ago. Only difference was I had ISU tied with BU at 2nd place (like you I have BU losing only to CU at their place) both at 12-6. SIU next, and CU fifth. I felt like I didn't see much of anything out of InSU last night, and predicted a bad finish for them.

Who knows if it works out that way, but I can hope and dream.

BU isn't out of the woods yet. As Tornado said, one injury and we could be right back to the doldrums (we didn't handle injury well the first time around). 2nd is as likely as 8th at this point in time. Staying out of Thursday is all that matters for this team right now.

yeah, but what is the probability of a player being injured, recovering and returning, and then being injured again? How often does that happen??

I predict Drake loses 3 games and we will finish either 10-8 or 9-9. We will not win at ISU, CU or at Drake and winning at Indy State will be very iffy at best. I do think though we will win the rest of our home games. The Evansville game is the wild card.

I believe 9-9 should keep us out of the play in, I am still convinced Indy State will end up playing Thursday with MSU, Evansville and WSU. But I have been saying for weeks it is manditory we sweep Indy State, sweep Evansville and not lose any more home games.

Drake will lose at SIU, ISU and at UNI.

As much as I'd love BU to finish 12-6 in the Conference, I think it's pretty unrealistic. I do think we will win all of our home games, however creighton and SIU will be tough, so we will have to be ready.

Even though this team has been better than recent years on the road, I don't see us winning at ISU, Drake or Creighton. Given the way EVansville played us here, even that one could be tough as well, as could INSU.

Hate to be a pessimist, but I'll say we win all 3 at home, and go 1-4 on the road. We finish at 9-9.

I'd love nothing more though than for BU to go out and prove me wrong and finish the season by getting 3 or so more road wins, culminating with a blowout at Creighton ala the UNI win a couple years ago.

                Bradley goes 11-7.

The Drake has a tough road ahead... 6 of their 8 games in February are on the road.

                  Drake 16-2

                  ISU 12-6

                  Bradley 11-7 (wins tiebreaker)

                  Creighton 11-7

                  SIU 10-8

                  UNI 8-10

                  Indiana State 7-11

                  Missouri State 6-12

                  Wichita State 6-12

                  Evansville 3-15

And that I feel is about the best Bradley can do...unfortunately that puts us in the dreaded 3/6 matchup...

Anyways, that being said, here would be the matchups at the Arch:

                  9) Wichita State 8/9 Winner
                  v v
                  Missouri State 1) Drake

                  5) SIU
                  v
                  4) Creighton

                  10) Evansville 10/7 Winner
                  v v
                  7) Indiana State 2) ISU

                  6) UNI
                  v
                  3) Bradley

Honestly, I would much rather be in the 5/4 at the top of the bracket, but I'll take whatever we can get as long as we play tough down the stretch and avoid Thursday...

Oh yeah, and play Rashad and Sam more minutes

I think we can get at least one. I don't think this team, with all the new faces, knows that they aren't supposed to win on the road. In fact, I think our chances of winning all three are better than losing all three.

Man I am pretty optomistic but to think we are only going to lose 1 more game is a stretch ; lets just win at Evansville on sat night and stay out of thurs. night.

I would love to see us only lose 1 or 2 more games but with 5 road games left and two home games v CU and SIU. That would be close to impossible.

I agree though with Realfan, Evansville is are most important game, a must win and we need to go get it on Saturday night.

We have 5 road and 3 home games left in the conference plus our 1 bracketbuster game; still believe if Ruffin had not gotten injured that we would be 8-2 now and finish 1st or 2nd. Lets win on saturday and stay out of thurs. night.
